So are they ever going to update the rewards/skins on the Hall of Monuments? Or was the accumulation of my 6 years playing GW1 entirely just for the Flaming Dragon Sword skin?

I know that the items shouldn’t be too fancy because it would alienate a lot of people who haven’t played the first game, but I’ve only ever seen people use the Flaming Dragon Sword skin or those fiery gloves.

They call it heritage armor. I feel like Obsidian Armor/Chaos Gloves is my heritage.

I agree. They’ll never update the skins because it would make the players who don’t have HoM/GW1 Jealous. . . . . . . . . . Heritage armor should look like Obi armor haha….

Why? The idea was a reward for basically transferring from GW into GW2. Since they’re entirely based on playing GW it doesn’t make sense to add more.

They definitely have better things to do.

The way it was promoted though. Look at all these rewards you’ll get once you reach this goal! M-M-M-M-M-MONSTER KILL! Seriously, you crazy! It’s a whole new world, finish it with a bang! Then when GW2 was released it effectively destroyed the GW1 community. Now all that is left are really bad skins.

It also bothers me how the HoM rewards are garbage, yet Tormented/Chaos/Zodiac weapons through Black Lion Chests were actually planned out and sold. Like, they’re only going to make throwbacks skins from GW1 if they can make a profit. Where’s the love for those who’ve kept playing since the first game?

I’m hopeful they will, but I must agree that it’s unlikely. Still, I’m working toward those skins, titles, and achievements between Living Story breaks.

Yeah, we were really sold a dodo on HoM. I would love obby armour as heratage, be better yet if you can access any armour or weapons (or minis for that matter) that you actually put into your HoM. i.e. it is your hall of monuments.

Won’t happen though, they just don’t have the staff or will to put world polish in. Their team has a full time job just adding all the new account bound junk to the game that we all love so much. All that junk just doesn’t appear you know, it takes a lot of dev effort to cram so much junk into a game.

Why are people so confused about the point of the HoM rewards?
Wasn’t it basically released at the same time as EotN EXACTLY what the rewards would be? Which was also at the same time as they even announced the HoM in the first place.

There were never anything that even suggested that you would be able to directly transfer stuff between the two games, quite the opposite in-fact.

Adding new rewards for playing a completely different game is probably not a priority at Anet.

This. Much better to add skins to this game.

Can’t see them expanding on this. That said, I use some of the heritage armor on new toons I create. I also use the staff skin and occasionally the ice crown (during this time of year). The fiery-dragon sword is just flashier so you notice it more.

Light Heritage Armor is actually my favorite armor set in the game.

While I got a somewhat later start on GW1 (after EotN had already released) and never finished (or will go back and finish) my Hall of Monuments, I felt pretty reasonably rewarded. I use my armor skins fairly frequently, I use my cat mini more than any other, I use the staff skin frequently, and if I every have a character that uses 1h sword or shortbow, those will be my go-to skins as well. If someone doesn’t like existing rewards in the HoM, I can’t help but write it off as a matter of different tastes.

I’m totally okay with them using throwback skins as Gem Store items, rather than tying them to the previous game somehow. Like it or not, GW1 players got their “Thanks for playing GW1! Come check out GW2!” rewards, and, 2.5 years into GW2, it seems wasteful to expand on that in a way that leaves out players who started with GW2. If they want to reward longtime GW1 players, it should be through things like Ogden’s reappearance or the statue of Abaddon, not through anything that actively encourages people to stop playing GW2 to go back and play GW1. That’s doesn’t make any business sense.

The accumulation of playing GW1 for six years wasn’t a Fiery Dragon Sword in GW2. Hopefully, it was the good experience you had playing GW1 for six years.

While I agree with what you are saying, I used the armor till I had a dungon set (and still use it till around level 35 these days, unless I’m playing another human warrior or Guardian.), the Ice Braker Hammer is my weapon of choice in PvP. The gnarled staff is the skin my necro is rocking along with the dagger and scepter skin. My Female Norn warrior is rocking the Firery Dragon sword and Dimond agis shield(as my Jora did in GW) my female Norn ranger also uses the long bow skin. Until 80, And probably will once again, once make an acended bow for her.

For me I would have loved to have the Eternal weapons as the skins for the HoM rewards. I’ve still not managed to get one in GW. But using hero’s to do UW is a pain, and not the most reliable way.

It’d be cool if they did but I can tell you right now that any more GW1 skin conversions will be another RNG box gem store gambler’s delight, at least as far as weapon skins go. I’d like to see Oppressor weapon skins and more armor skins from GW1 make it to GW2. Except for Obsidian that armor is ugly af. Hmm. I used the armor and weapons as skins all the way to level 80 on 9 chars and my ranger wore the armor until just a couple of months ago. My thief has the ice crown. My necro has the undead chicken and the scepter (the scepter is really nice for necro) and I’m thinking of putting the coat back on her. My ranger uses the Rockfur Raccoon. My guardian used the Ice Breaker hammer until maybe 6 months ago. Both my necro and my thief use the daggers (best ones in the game imo)

Just because you don’t see them OP doesn’t mean they aren’t used. The sword is flashy and attracts attention but the others are out there also.

I agree. The Fellblade was my first “perfect” drop.
