So, with the upcoming arrival of HoT on October 23 what do you think this means for Halloween? Do you think we will get last years repeat of year 2 again? It would be nice to get some new Halloween weapon skins. But what I enjoyed most from the first year was getting the backpack and all the history we learned behind this. It would be nice if they at least made something similar that is just as long and entertaining; getting us to go out into the world and explore areas we would normally miss.
I’m scared we might not get ANY form of Halloween, between HOT releasing and the fact they would have to re-do the way they decorate Lion’s Arch for it. I would take a copy+paste of last year, but it’s not as simple as just copy+paste this time. I guess we just have to wait and see what happens.

I have no doubt that we’ll be getting Halloween in some way; ANet ALWAYS does Halloween. However, I do think it’ll be a rehash of the last two years, and it might be set in DR instead of LA this time.
A rehash of last year’s, and the year before that, is my guess. But thrown together like last Wintersday in DR’s pavilion. If it happens in Lion’s Arch, I’ll be shocked.
I’m fairly confident they will open the labyrinth to us but the rest is up in the air. With it being as close to the release of HoT and the fact that we have gone quite the long stretch without anything added does not bode well to me. They may even be still releasing “fix” patches come Halloween so I am not expecting much.
When they rebuilt Lion’s Arch they made a big deal about how they want to keep Halloween there for the sake of tradition.
That makes me even more concerned we won’t be seeing it this year :-/
I must have missed that, but it makes me feel better that they (probably) won’t try to cram it in to Divinity’s Reach. Hopefully they planned it out back when they were actually redesigning Lion’s Arch, but I’m going to remain cautiously skeptical.

My thinking is one of the reasons they put HoT on Oct. 23 might be because they haven’t had any time to do anything for Halloween. In this way the majority of the playerbase will be preoccupied with HoT for the most part and since they’ll see it’s only a rehash of the past 2 years may not play the Halloween events really at all.
just throw the ghastly items and mad king outfits back and people will be happy again… for a while… labyrinth farm too… might as well make it 1st sept…
Would love for this to happen, but unfortunately I doubt they’ll do that.
I am most sure halloween event will still happen although it is awfully close to the release, I think it will be after that though and not before.
Can definitely hope they will make a bit special about it, what with the release of HoT though, that would be neat, compared to copy paste last years halloween.

I think the Halloween event unlike other major events is kinda just hitting a button to turn it on. I think would just need bug updates. Gw knows we love Halloween and would turn it off for HoT.
Please, can a dev(Gaile, Regina, anyone) confirm we are having Halloween this year??? As one who has loved the Halloween season in Guild Wars, I was in the trailer scene when all the players were running in a long line following Gaile around(yes, I would be the semi-naked monk running around, tattoo’s only armor). I was enthralled with Halloween’s first year in Guild Wars 2 when Mad King ripped out of the statue and the ensuing battle in his own mad realm to send him back again.
Please confirm for the players Halloween will be part of the HoT launch or at least the activities will be active, as that would be truly memorable to have both which I believe firmly is the intention here!

after some reading on the forums . i can not say names or any thing like that due to the company polices but i can say that iam sure now with out a question at all there is and or nor will there be any more event,s at all in this game. and you just might as well for get winters day events too as well . how sad this game has become of it,s self

But Johanson wanted to reassure players that even though there is a lot of focus on the new HoTness, events like Halloween will still continue and patches will still come to the old game. WAIT A MINUTE! King THORN! It all makes sense now, the Thorn king will be partialy responsible for HoT XD. Silliness aside im pretty sure they will move halloween to early october most likely, there is no way they’ll ignore an important and their FIRST event ever. What makes me curious is how the mad king thorn will react to LA. Will ellen, magnus, evon, and hero-tron join the festivities?
I was about to make a topic on this but looked up and I’m glad I’m not the only one worried about not having a Halloween in gw2 this year!

Love Blood and Madness! Yes I expect it to be back. Actually I expect it to be even bigger since this will be ANet’s first chance at utilizing all the new space that was created in the new LA for exactly this kind of thing. Come on ANet it’s my day to be an optimist don’t shut me down! This is one of the more fun events in game and is one of those to share with players from other games to draw them into Tyria.
Yea. I still believe Halloween will take place in LA and I am really, really hoping that all of LA will be festooned with jack-o-lanterns, scarecrows and the like. What I would love to have though is for it to have something more than the past 2 years. Maybe even have an event similar to the baby karka find one. I want a great new bit of history added to it. Some flavor context that gives you a new back pack (that can become ascended like you would the fractal ones). I love my “Mad King Memoirs” backpack and I still recall all the history that went with it. I want to see something similar this year. Also, some new weapons skins and bringing back the old ones too would be great. But, I am still worried that we will just get a repeat of the last couple of years. I really hope this doesn’t happen but it is understandable, unfortunately.

I don’t understand how you can say a grand total of 20 skins across all the Halloween skins from the original event is a “market”… it’ll kitten off a grand total of 20 people in game and give thousands the chance they’ve been waiting for for years now.
I say reintroduce the skins, if anything, make them a gemshop item or tie them to the candy corn cob token system.

Think of it in the terms of high end luxury sports car market like cars designed by McClaren or Enzo… they might make 10-20 of a given model and that’s it… apply that to high end skins.

Missed this before… you don’t like the price therefore obviously no one will pay for it…. funny I just had a good friend buy the scythe staff for 3k…

Ahhhh so it boils down to a waaaaahhhh I wasn’t there argument for you… you weren’t there for release but you feel entitled to them… gotcha. Here’s an idea. Look at ANY high end collectible market. Sports cards, shoes, toys, comics… I DARE you to try and make your argument work for any of them… you can’t. So why should “I wasn’t arpund then it’s not fair” work here?

Also, the content died after 2 days two years ago. D-e-a-d. Last year, mega servers but especially the lottery for the Ghstly grinning shield saved the content. This year, without the lottery (not confirmed to be back) and with HoT competing, the content could die again (especially if it is a rerun).
It’s not that there are only five in the world, just five for sale. People who have the skin sitting in the bank understands that nobody, well seller, wins if a price war erupts on an item that haven’t seen any way to get more of in nearly 3 years. And whoever holds onto the last one wins.
And for the Ghastly Shield, I count 8 sales in the last month not counting those that went to a high bidder and 3 for the Greatsaw.
Same thing is true with ticket skins and exclusive dyes although they take a hit more frequently with items returning to the Gem Shop or ticket exchanger.

Why is it none of you can view these for what they are? High end collectibles… limited time items of limited availability in a supply and demand market… what’s confusing?
