Well, this will put to rest the suspecion I have that bad mapping of Halloween assets from old LA to New LA is contributing to the oom leaks.

FYI folks, I tested last night, a real tight field of view gives 10 fps and seems to stop the oom crash, at least thru one whole Tarir defense.

Halloween has an evil theme to it so I guess they had to make it evil somehow……and this is TRUELY evil. Even more so than Scarlett could have ever been even if she did marry Trahearne and if they did have kids to torment us all with (yes, yes I know lore wise that could not happen anyways but this is my evil fantasy so yeah just run with it lol. :P).

I farmed using a alt. I wanted to save tomes so I used a scroll to insta lvl 30 him, and when i got tired of farming he was level 54

When can We expect to see the Thanks Giving Theme up and running?

I’m not where near done farming yet!

I’m happy you people get fun with halloween. I really prefer the new maps in Magus Falls, so I barely did a couple of clocktowers before going back to gliding.
I think I’m just too tired of candy corn.

On exciting news, Wednesday means me and my friend can officially do some good old jungle exploring and story. We been mostly focus on this event, that we only spent like 3 hours in the jungle in the past 2 weeks.

Every time, it’s immediately. So don’t expect them to hang around this time either.

GW2 Halloween Event is the best especially the mad king, I even carved him in my pumpkin this year! (Along with the little pumpkin on the far left of the lions arch loading screen) It’s always sad to see it end…and on my birthday too haha.

Some vendors seem to stay longer, or move to a location. I just wanted to make sure.

so that basically means tattered batwings and unopened brew will go crazy in price ._.? not that they’re cheap now xD

Actually the Halloween vendor was available year round.

This is the first time it will not be available. So it is a good thing someone asked.

That gives me a bit more time to get the last 18 candy corn cobs I need for the mini Gwynefyrdd, I was running a bit short of tricks to make gold ASAP so it’s good to know I can afford to spend some more time farming.

oh wow, phew I thought it would end within 24 hours already. But now it’s on wednesday I can still farm the last two of my tattered bat wing, and hopefully get them. Ty for the info!!

Hello, my fellow Halloween Fanatics,

I don’t think the team can extend the holiday in any form, as there are other things coming, and all the various teams within the development team need to get everything properly scheduled and good to go.

I decorate my house for more than a month in celebration of Halloween, and I do see how extending the festival is a tempting idea. However, with the knowledge that “other cool stuff is coming,” I hope you’ll agree that two weeks is a goodly time period this year. (We can hope for a slightly longer festival next year, perhaps? I don’t know that, but we can hope. )

Not to mention that the game still crashes all the time.

Instead of already putting in new content, it would be much better to keep Halloween in longer and use the time to solve all the problems.

Well I have always liked the Halloween festival the best in GW2. It’s right up there with SAB for me. Wintersday is nice, but just a little lower. This year is especially good as they did bring back the the Mad King Dungeon, just as I like it. Something I wanted back from the second year on… Lets hope it returns next year. (In addition, the dungeon also had content specific rewards, exactly like I want it)

Anyway, then it turned out it was only two weeks what was kinda short.. it will be gone for another year. Not instead of 2 weeks it’s even less. People have not even been able to get the Halloween decoration.

Completely separated from that, there are all the crash problems. It’s much better to get that fixed before adding more stuff in because they want to keep their schedule. Forget the schedule fix all the problems first instead of likely introducing even more and keep us busy with the Halloween event.

Imho that would be the most logical solution here.

And while typing this I was doing MKS.. of-course 3 quarters in the game crashed. Losing my stacks, getting nothing. And there is another reason why it should be extended.

Why is there no raptor farm in HoT? I thought for sure with all those raptors we were going to have a ToT bag nostalgia event. I should have dusted off my A/E and hit Riven Earth. Was there an event in GW1? Too busy deciding whether to work on Masteries or Farm. XP or Gold..Xp or Gold..XP or Gold….Hmmmmm

Unless Endless Batwing Brew drops are upped or a forge recipe is added to convert the normal brews to endless brews, almost no one is going to have time to farm the absurd 25,000 bags needed in time. You could add a week to the event and that’d still be the case.

There’s no reliable way to earn the tonic with cobs or lesser batwing tonics, so you’re forced to grind bags or grind gold. So much for that mighty anti-grinding manifesto 3 years ago, huh?

Are the new rewards (read: Gwynefyrdd) going to be added to the festival merchant in Lion’s Arch as a couple of the old ones were last year?

So does this mean the festival vendor in NW LA will not have the pails and such?

Will treat bags opened after the festival ends still yield the festival rewards? I forget if they turn off the festival drops from treat bags or not.

While I completely agree this should have been the case for the ‘precursor’ for Nightwing (what now happens to be that tonic) it’s also bad to change that now as you then are basically screwing over everybody who did spend all the gold it is cost because of how it works now.

But in general this is something Anet has to work on. If you make special rewards, or let people craft things then the precursor item, or the special item itself should be something you can effectively directly work towards. It could have been a drop from the MKD with 1/5th of the drop-rate of the tattered wings (while you then still have the problem that this is a temporary event) or a reward from some scavenger hunt, or a reward from some hard challenge you have to overcome.

It should not all just be grind. For most items in GW2 it’s just grind gold and buy, because there is no real way to directly work towards getting these items. Instead of specific rewards behind specific content you can directly work towards. Anet made some progress in this with HoT but it’s still the biggest issue for GW2. And al the gem-store items that you can also only get by gold does also not help to solve this problem. Let’s hope Anet makes more steps with solving this and we will see better methods of getting new high prestige items.

Anyway, back to the Halloween end date.

Agreed, most of my guildies just started the Halloween event this week because they were in HoT. It should not have been release the same time as the Expansion, to be fair it should at least be extended for another week.

I am always amazed about people who say that they couldn’t play Halloween b/c of HoT. You chose to not do Halloween, despite knowing it’s temporary while HoT is not. And now if Halloween is extended you suddenly don’t play HoT anymore and have time for the festival? What prevented you from doing that in the first place?

Pleeeeaaaase… extend it to this weekend!! Work keeps me from playing during the week.

I’m going to miss Lich fights. Another year’s wait yet again. I had a great time jumping from map instance to map instance just to fight Lich boss.

Doing lich fights, I realized several things:

1. The more you spend time on certain things, the better you become.
2. The way to improve yourself is to put pressure on yourself. You won’t improve if the fight is easy and you are not striving to survive and/or win.
3. Pride is a great motivator to improve. The good pride, like proving something good, not thinking you are already great. Be proud, but be humble as well.
4. Pull lich when the other nearby door is open for the lulz.

Wow thanks for the last minute notice contrary to previous info of 2 weeks. Not to mention record short event time for the game if not the entire industry. Worst decision ever. Please extended the event. This is extremely disappointing that you would release a special event along with new content and then give people hardly any time at all to do the special event. Thanks.

You had plenty of time to enjoy the Halloween event but probably chose to play the expansion instead. HoT isn’t going anywhere soon. I knew that and prioritized my time enjoying the festival.

I was with a pretty good sized group…so I did do this with a bit of Iron Man flair…this is what appeared in Map Chat:

“Hey, group fighting at door by Lich…I’m bringing the Party to you!”

Followed by many replies that included ********…lol

We did still manage to beat him.

I too wish it were a bit longer(I could use the time to continue to try for the Tonic for Nightfury), but I also made Halloween a priority, and will begin tackling the HoT content once the official end happens.
