With Halloween only a couple of months away now and with the expansion distraction between now and then, I thought I would ask what are seen by people as the best farming builds for this year. I know in the past it has been the guardian “loot stick” but I also understand that the range on that has been nerfed.

I thought maybe a flamethrower engi for my basic tyria account but for my main I wasnt sure if there was something out of HoT or PoF specs that made something a good ToT farmer. I am a bad theorycrafter but I do like to get prepared as we are all going to be busy elsewhere in 3 weeks ^.^

Anything that doesn’t have knockbacks.

(Contrary to popular belief, which only seems to come up at Halloween it is not just rangers who have knockback…and it’s also not true that all ranger weapons and/or pets cause knockback.)

AoEs are good, fast casting AoEs which you can place or fire at range are better.

Other than that I don’t think it matters.

I don’t have a lot of classes to choose, but Renegade with piercing trait for shortbow, and Vengeful Hammers from Jalis legend should be good for tagging.

Eh, I just use my necro. I just use AOEs/wells for my utility slots, and then use staff and scepter/dagger (although I might go scepter/torch this year).

reapers can pull whole groups and PBAOE them, it all depends on what you want tho….

Thief’s shortbow looks like a very good choice.

Range weapon that bounces 3 targets and hit a wide radius.
Put on a sigil of Fire and watch the firework.

I use thief/daredevil, permanent swiftness and shortbow for tags.

There’s always Necromancer/Reaper with staff and wells.

Be careful with pulls as well though. That can be as annoying as knockbacks.

If everyone else has placed their AoEs and/or run to the spot where the enemies spawned and then you suddenly pull them towards you…it might be great for you but it messes up the rest of the groups attacks.

Knockbacks are always going to be a problem because everyone levels so much. Even at level 80 when your bar fills you get the leveling animation that includes a knockback. Don’t do it on purpose, obviously, but it’s always going to be unavoidable.

Thief is my choice for tagging. Shortbow bounce is great, #2 blast exploded above their heads is better. The teleport even helps you keep up with the zerg if you stopped to carve a pumpkin or mine candy corn (or that freaking mummy immobilized you … again!) Massive mobility and minimal rotation for the mindless massacre of spooky critters.

I hear good things about flamethrower engis too, but I just like my thief a lot. Well, technically daredevil, but basic thief works.
