Hey all

Is it true that Halloween will be released on the same day as HoT ?
If so, what do you guys/girls think about that ?

If it’s true I fear that the players will be to busy to care about the Halloween event.
Or if attending myself that I will lose some time with my guild and friends exploring all the new things in HoT

It’s one of the gw2’s main events that I look forward to – I dunno with the rest of you
- I know that the players i play with have been waiting a lot for a new event and it’s been a little slow with events this year.

Any thoughts on this ?

It was mentioned on the stream that it would be released with HoT. It’ll probably just be another re-release however, as they’ll be devoted to HoT and have limited resources to fix any problems. If they do release it earlier though, expect it to be on the normal patch day, October 20th.

As for participation, there’s all the free accounts that will be experiencing it for the first time. For anyone that’s purchased HoT, of course they’ll be preoccupied for at least the first few days.

Halloween is just a couple of weeks while HoT will be there always. For myself … I will do both. If I tried to do one thing only for hours then I would get bored.

I agree. I hated Winds of Change because of people would finish the new so fast that by the time I could get on, almost everyone was already done. I like to take my time. The game gets old much slower that way. Do some of this, do some of that, but never all of once.

Atm I see players who are just standing around, just waiting for HoT.. I think releasing Halloween a week or 2 before HoT would make ppl more active maybe and “awake” and ready for HoT

I will hope it will be release few days before HoT so I can do all the achievements so I can only focus on HoT when it come out.

I told my guildies that for the first day, I will be playing Halloween… on my elites, but I will leave the new maps alone for at least a day while Anet works out some bugs.

I’ll focus on Halloween. Got the expansion preordered, but that can wait until after Halloween.

I wish it started earlier, mostly so that I could get some jumping time in to cure the worst clock tower obsession without having to deal with the likely frequently happening patches. Those are nightmare with the (update only) connection issues I have.

I wont be jumping into VB before I do Labyrinth. Partly because of bugs, partly because achievements will be come harder as time goes on and partly because there’s no rush on getting into VB.

I took the 26th off for just that reason. Bugs will be high the first few days, so I will be focusing on Halloween as it is a limited time thing, and will return to play HoT when that’s all done. I would suggest you all do the same!

I’m going to have to weigh a bunch of different things. I suspect I will end up doing Halloween for a number of reasons:

1. Less bugs
2. Achievement points. Once they are gone they are gone
3. XP, new legendary weapons require Tyria mastery, not HoT mastery, so I might as well get as much xp during Halloween as I can towards my tyria mastery.

If I get bored of Halloween then i’ll jump right into HoT.

i need the 2012 halloween skins.
will they be coming back or will they just disappear?

Hopefully they give us an extra week of Halloween before the expansion hits.

Especially if it turns out to be a rerun. I would love to not have to worry about finishing 80 games of Lunatic Inquistion when the expansion is out.

I’m also worried that the maze content could “die” quickly due to poor rewards if those aren’t updated and players rush the new content instead.

I’m fine with it. HoT will be there for me when I’m ready for it. In the meantime, I’m farming me some Mad King’s Labyrinth (until I drop from exhaustion).

Halloween in the past was typically done around the 15th running through to the 31st. That lines up with 10/13 as the start continuing onward through HOT release most likely.

I hope its at least a week before HoT release

I’m on the same boat as you. It’s a shame they could’ve released Halloween a week or two earlier. We got nothing to do anyway atm. HoT is here to stay so Halloween events are top priority till we vomit all the sugar pumpkins we eat.

if this Halloween is anything like the last 3, you’ll be able to complete everything that isn’t bugged in a matter of hours and be on to HoT. I don’t see any problems arising from this.

I admit I am hoping that Blood and Madness is released early this year. Would be awesome if it started next week cough cough. That would also pass the time nicely as we await HoT. It will be a time conflict if they come out at the same time which would be a shame.

Source on this one? I think I missed it. I did see the posts where they said it will be going on but not the when bit. Normally its is 10/21-10/22 release dates based on the prior 3 years.
