Maybe the Anet ceo sat down with robert kotick about what games should be like
I keep saying that they forgot what “fun” is.
I keep saying that they forgot what “fun” is.
I’m sure the last time I checked “Fun” meant an emotion mostly provided by grinding out achievements and gold to get that expensive skin from Gemstore.
I keep saying that they forgot what “fun” is.
I think gamers over all have forgot what “fun” is any more. If your playing a game for loot your asking for a reward for playing a game that is a reward you eared from living and or working in real life. At best ppl keep flocking to the new thing mainly indie games because its the “hipster” thing to do.

I agree.
I am an unhappy gw2 player.
I do not buy gems anymore.
When i was a happy player,
I bought gems weekly.
Do the math anet.

Nailed it! prep to be infracted .
I feel like this thread is dealing with the issue in a very superficial way. I mean, do you really think someone is going to read it, do a spit take, and shout “WHAT? HAPPY CUSTOMERS ARE REPEAT CUSTOMERS? WHAT?”
No; that’s staggeringly obvious. What isn’t obvious is how to maximize sales while appealing to a wide range of players’ likes and dislikes, and everything else that goes into developing a game. It’s not enough just to say “If you respond to players’ complaints, they’re more likely to give you money!” If it were that simple, don’t you think they’d be doing it?
There are a lot of debates about what is done well or done poorly in the game, both as a money-makers and as a fun pastime, but with this thread…What kind of response is there? “No, the game can’t be made more fun?” “No, player enjoyment doesn’t correlate with player investment?” Or is it just fishing for agreement and the mutual validation of a bunch of people nodding at each other and the sentiment “We know better than the out-of-touch company big-wigs” ?
Remember, the people running the show are people, too, and many of them are business people. That they should try to make players happy has probably occurred to them.

well, actually, it is that simple. just compare the company that has made the most popular MOBA-game. recently, they made a contract for pro-players that many people were unhappy with. ppl were mildly upset and it was heavily discussed on reddit; even devs post there and answer question frequently. in the end, they changed the contract and the most upvoted comment was this: “I think it’s admirable that you took your fanbase’s/player-base’s happiness into account.”
i don’t want to compare apples and bananas and yeah, i know, this desire for happniess-oriented decisions may be superficial… but hell, i want to enjoy the few hours i play this game daily.
For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong.

ibf people start saying the forums are not the majority of the player base.
On topic I agree I login I check on the guild I am in log out. I have watched countless people in our guild just stop logging in cause there is nothing to do.
People have made suggestions on the forums on how to fix this issue. There is no point in going back over all that. I also think arena.net artificial controls server populations making them look abnormally high.
I noticed them controlling server populations when they had that sell on transfers right before wow season 1. Where moving to a medium – high population server was half price. Amazingly none of the servers dropped extremely high population status the entire time that promotion was going on go figure.
You need to have fun to be happy. Fun is subjective enough to mean different things to different people.
I’ll give you 100 gold if you can convince an Arenanet developer to come here and describe to us what they think fun is.
That they should try to make players happy has probably occurred to them.

Maybe not so quickly, more of a diminishing return scenario.
Dear Devs,
Can one of you please express your definition of “fun” in this thread so that i can get 100 gold from Calae,
Much thanks!
One definition of fun I can think of is being far away from a job on a Saturday night and being able to relax.
I have been playing for almost a year and haven’t spent a single penny in the gem store because of my dissatisfaction with the living story. I refuse to fund that mediocre, carrot-on-a-stick, player-funneling, open-world-killing garbage they release every two weeks.
Holiday festival events are fine. The Living Story releases, however, make me despise this game and everyone who supports them.
P.S. …and the sad thing, I was having loads of fun in this game before ‘Flame & Frost’. I have become increasingly miserable ever since.

It’s a simple fact: happy people spend more money! If a company makes me happy in any ways, i am more likely to give them money in hopes to increase or sustain my happiness even further.
It actually works the other way around. Happier population spends less money overall.
They need to ignore the majority of players because the majority of players have terrible ideas and suggestions about how to “improve” the game.
