Happy Birthday?
Join the club. Popular isn’t always the same as money-making, and the cash shop blows GW1 out of the water in that regard. That’s just the way it is now.
Besides, I’m sure they’re working on something cool. Just wait out this feature patch, and we’ll see what they’re up to next.
I admire your optimism. I’ve been saying the same thing to many of my friends who have quit playing over the last 6 months.
That’s how it is when companies start worshiping the almighty dollar and nothing else.

Its really weird. This was supposed to be big day for GW2 but…I can just hope that they are late a little cause of patch
Did they celebrate the first years birthday? I don’t believe they did. There was the gift but no party or celebration.

The first anniversary of Guild Wars 2 and the distribution of the first birthday gifts coincided with the Clockwork Chaos release in August 2013.
I don’t think they have plans for any sort of celebration. Not now. Not ever. It doesn’t fit into the Living Story. I mean this literally. What does Tyria know about ANet? How would a birthday celebration for ANet fit into this world? This is how I think they are rationalizing it. Obviously they aren’t interested in making a yearly festival either with another name.
I believe that for the first Birthday, the community itself was much more interested and got itself excited for seeing what Arena Net were going to do for their one year anniversary/birthday.
And unfortunately – I’m assuming here – that most people gave up the will to care after the “lack luster” first birthday.
Also keep in mind that the Birthday aspect does not happen to everyone on August 25, so Arena Net making an event specifically for that purpose, is shunning people who made characters after.
