Happy to Give $60 worth of Expansion Money
[UV]
I would like a playable expansion, but i also would like Anet to stop trying to be such special snowflakes and just put in to the game, standard MMORPG game play.
|Aurin Esper|Castanic Archer|Sword Fiona|Norn Ranger|Blood Elf Fire Mage|Togruta Sith|
At this point in time, I wouldn’t buy an expansion for even 10 dollars.
I wouldn’t buy it either.
What’s the point of a new race, w/o race change or the fact the game is so anti-alt now
No,no price tag for expansion please with that kind of quality no!
No way in hell I’d pay for an expansion. This game is B2P, why the hell should I shell out more money for stuff they’re already putting in here during the living story updates (Zephyr Sanctum and Southsun Cove for example).
PvE Main – Zar Poisonclaw – Daredevil
WvW Main – Ghost Mistcaller – Herald
Wasnt GW1 also B2P? As i recall expansions are not compulsory, ppl who bought it can experience new stuff, otherwise other ppl can still play the game as before. I have no issue against that model, though I have to admit I’d be quite cautious now on whether to spend money on it or not. It’s not the price tag or the model of payment thats an issue for me, its where the game as a whole seems to be going…
I sure as hell would pay $60 for an expansion. I wouldn’t mind seeing more of tyria’s map expanded since there are so many areas on the map that is left unexplored E.G: Isles of Janthir, Ring of Fire, Deldrimor Front, Blood Legion Homelands, etc. I would love to explore those areas and find the lore related to it. Of course, that’s assuming that a lot of the lore relating to the first game is touched upon first. Right now, the whole focus is on Scarlet with the Living World updates.
nope
Hell NO to a paid expansion! This game has a gem store for a reason.
I wish they would simple make their mind up on what they want to do. They seem rather indecisive about their decisions on this matter. For quite some time now in interviews it has been, “we haven’t made a decision as to how we are going to release that yet”.
They say they can release all these things in the LS. I sure hope so. More and more games are getting player housing or guild halls. New games will have new areas to explore. etc etc.
please make a decision.
Would definatly buy an expansion if the content included is better than living story. Living story is a nice distraction for 2 hours every 14 days but not much more sadly.
I would gladly pay for a traditional type of expansion instead of living story, but – I’ll leave the back door open – also in addition to LS. (I’m still optimistic they’re making something huge in the background… their all resources can’t be used on LS… can they?)
I will happily pay $100 only to see all those dynamic events in perpetual bugged state finally working and another $100 for a proper profession balance but I said the same months ago and now I’m pretty sure this is not going to happen ever.

Paid expansions are gate content. That goes against the idea of a open evolving world.
New areas must be available to players.

They are available — if you buy them. Same concept for everything that’s in the gem store right now. Keep in mind you also bought the content you are currently playing, all of Tyria.
I’d rather pay for content than get the “free” LS fare we have now. Our money is feedback — if you have to buy content, the resulting revenue is feedback on the content (bad content == fewer buyers).
The current content is meager and is always accompanied by gem-shop items (because that’s the only revenue stream after you buy the box).
Bottom Line: If you have to buy your content, you’ll get better quality content.
60$ is too much for an expansion.
Besides, I believe they would much rather have an artist create a glowing stick and have their player base gamble on a chance to get it for 10$ a ticket.
I would gladly pay for an expansion. But I’d like to see a pull back on the frequency of LS and, most of all, put attention into fixing bugs and classes.
I, too, want a continuation of the personal story!

The amount of people who are against this is disgusting.
You’re telling me you do not ever want to see
- A new region.
- New races.
- New classes.
- New set of dungeons all at once.
- New huge storyline.
- Huge drop of new cosmetic gear.
You don’t want any of that? You’d really rather have this drip-fed nonsense that barely feels like content at all? You’d rather spend money on the gem store than have in-game attainable cosmetic items? You’d rather have un-fufilling, rushed, every-two-weeks kinda-updates rather than a well-polished expansion with tons and tons of new content to complete?
If that’s truly what this playerbase wants, then it makes me sick. I can’t believe we live in a day and age where people would rather have re-hashed mini-updates and gem store purchases than lay down 60 dollars for a proper paid expansion in all its glory.
Expansions were one of the ONLY good things about MMOs of the past and the fact that ANet and apparently the GW2 fanbase don’t want that is astounding, worrying, and wrong in every way.

1. Except for the huge drop of cosmetic gear ArenaNet has said that all of those things can come through the living story.
2. Perhaps you don’t like the living story, but I love it. To me it is a massive amount of content and I, as well as a lot of other people, am overwhelmed by the amount, and quality, of content they produce so fast.
3. Why do you have so much against the gem store? There is pretty much only cosmetic items in there, except for boosts and more space, either for character slots, bank or bags.

1. I don’t want this content to be drip fed. I want a new are to explore WITH a new playable race AND a new playable class, all at once. You know, like an MMO is supposed to do. That’s one of the ONLY good parts about traditional MMO structure. It’s like Christmas morning and getting to see all this cool new stuff all at once. It’s great… But you don’t want that. You want a new class…. And months later a new race… And months later still a new city… And months later STILL new quests to go with the new race…
Sounds like so much fun.
2. It’s 1-2 days of achievement grinding.
3. The Gem store is a blight on this game. A necessary blight, but a blight nonetheless. Any cash shop in any game is terrible and ruins the experience of achieving anything in a video game. Unfortunately, to keep away from a sub, we have to keep the cash shop in.

Totally disagree that the Living Story content is “massive” — not in any stretch of the imagination. It’s essentially the bare minimum you can crank out and call it “new” content. On top of that, most content goes away so we’re left with very little other than the current iteration of living story.
If you log in today for the first time in a few months, the only content you have that’s “new” are some of the puzzle games, occasional scarlet zone events, karka queen, and the replaced TA dungeon path. Maybe I’m forgetting a few, but you get the point.
This content pales in comparison to a true expansion. Look at what you got in GW1 for nightfall, factions, and Eye of the North. Yes you can argue that two of those were “stand alone games” and not expansions, but what was provided is what you’d expect in an expansion for GW2.
If you add up 100% of all Living Story content you’ve ever received — EVER — in GW2, it doesn’t not compare to a single expansion like what you’d get with Factions or Nightfall.
Players will pay for good content.
