Is there ever going to be a “hard mode” like in gw1? I feel like this game has just turned into running 40 man kitten zerker pve trains that spam “1” all day.. and if Anet tries to make it harder, all they do is add more health to the mobs. So I guess my question is, Will there ever be a mode where mobs actually require tactics or holy trinity type playstyle?

Not in open world for sure. It just isn’t set up for it and creating separate maps would just fragment the population when they just brought in megaservers to avoid that.

Dungeons? Maybe. Only the devs could say and they wont. Achievements are were they are testing the waters here. Seeing what works and what doesn’t.

In terms of tactics, well the early stages of that are being seen in S2. The Mordrems are much harder than normal mobs. ALso, we have Teq and Wurm set up for those who want more tactical fights.

While waiting you could solo some dungeons. If you’re getting bored of soloing, do it naked or with subpar classes. That’s what i do when i’m bored. In the meantime, use those solos to teach some other people, that way you’re actually contributing to the game and having fun. But for now the only way to increase the difficulty is to put artificial challenges. Guess that’s not bad, just pointing that out.
