Harvesting sickle,
Have you not noticed that a single node of wood or ore spends at least 3 charges, and plant ones spend 1?
Probably because, unless you get extra harvesting, you harvest metal and tree nodes 3 times and plants once.
ANet may give it to you.
I believe it used to be balanced because:
- Mining Pick → 3 hits on a regular node.
- Axe → 3 hits on a regular node.
- sickle → 1 hit on 1 node.
I agree with you that it’s a bit strange though.

I’m going to guess that they figured that most plants would have low demand compared to metals and wood so they had a choice of either reducing the number of plant nodes per map or reducing the number of harvesting from plant nodes, and they chose the second option.

What’s weirder is using a sickle to harvest stuff like carrots and mussels.
What about carrying mussels in his bag in the hot jungle and leaving them in his bank for months and not getting sick afterwards?
There’s strong magic at work here…
The thing is…barring any extra strikes, you can harvest 33 nodes with an (standard) axe or a pick, but 50 nodes with a (standard) sickle.
Thus, sickles are the better investment, so to speak (node-wise, but not item-wise). =)
