This change is more for people like me kitten-roll over and over (me and many others beg for something like this for a long time) or those willing to waste time putting the tools on the bank and grabbing them with another char.

It can still be only used by one character at a time. Switching means two charactes having to visit a bank or use a bank access which is not free. Having the option to lend them to other two characters if needed does not make them any less useful for the characters that have them.

They are also offering refunds for people who have purchased multiples. If you are interested, contact support for a refund. They said to give them ample time to process the request due to high volume.

I have six characters and all are fully outfitted with the permanent tools…it was worth the gem purchase to me to equip them. I hope to eventually get two more character slots so I have one of each profession to play, and I will purchase a complete set for each. Yes, yes, I know that with account bound tools I can move them around…but for me, the convenience of just logging on and playing and then logging off without depositing my tools in the bank is trumps the relatively small amount of money I spend on the one-time purchase. Certainly others will feel differently…as they have different preferences and circumstances. This just works for me.

that support will refund gems for multiple copies of the same gathering tool. You might want to file a ticket.

I am actually going to keep my multiples of the tools I bought. I don’t like having to switch stuff between toons all the time. It’s nice to have them on the two or three characters I play at any given time.

This is a great change, but I don’t like switching between tools between characters every single time I want to play with an Alt, neither.

If Anet is reading this, I suggest making those tools “unlockable by account”, similar to the acchievement’s skins, where each character can create a copy of they whenever they want from a menu option.

Same here. But I do like the fact that if I don’t play a given character, I can give the tools to another one I do play a lot at that time.

All achievement and gemstore skins should be like that, I sincerely hope that the reason they aren’t yet is a technical hurdle, and not ANets monetization team meddling where they oughtn’t be.

I just wish there was a way to switch one tool for another, that’s not buying both and leaving one in my bank.

I would never have bought the Molten Axe with it’s crazy over-the-top animation if I’d known the Bone Pick was going to come out just one month later. But now I’m stuck with it.

Now I just have to wait for the original tools to come back. The seasonal look of the current set doesn’t really appeal to me. I’m also starting to worry that the set might not get an axe.

Yup, agreed, though i would not mind them “locking” to a certain max amount of checkouts that goes back up when you destroy one or right-click to store back or w/e.

Or being able to check them out for all characters and introduce the new ones as skins to which you can switch between the different skins you bought (bone vs molten).. I think they can explore continuing to make money while also increasing quality of life of items such as there. Same applies to personal bank and merchant access or other services.
