Has GW2 improved?
Call me Hyper (;
The game has had 21 content patches this year alone, many of which have brought improvements to the core game as well as content.
Here’s a great video that shows what changes you’ll see right away (applies to everyone)

And another video that highlights changes to WvW

I could give you an honest opinion but then i would get infracted by a mod for it.
It’s easier to make money nowadays, the new magic find is a good addition (imo – account wide beats having to lug around an entire set of armor just for farming), and they’re still working on it every 2 weeks so I’d say its better.
That said, Living Story’kitten and miss (you get the good like Zephyr Sanctum and Queen’s Gauntlet and the bad like Dragon Bash and Tower of Nightmares before it opened) and I don’t know what your stance is on Ascended gear but otherwise I’d say it’s had one hell of an improvement over the course of a year now.
Depends what you consider “fun”. Everyone has a different idea of fun. Some like grind, and farming, some like dungeons and others like exploration, while others still are in it for the money and rewards. I was in the same boat as you. I didn’t play from launch, but started mid-September (2012), so not long after. I played it A LOT up to the end of the November and after the loot nerfs in November, I gradually lost interest in it and stopped playing altogether perhaps mid-late February. Lack of rewards were just sucking the fun out of the game for me. I picked it back up again this fall when the Halloween event was released, primarily because I wanted to do the clock puzzle, being the only jumping puzzle I had not completed. I found new interest in playing the TP, found a friendly and active guild, and have even started leveling a new character. Oh, and rewards are marginally better than they were. But I think the new guild is the best thing I did to renew my interest.

the only thing they improved on, is the change of magic find. Playing since beta.
In quality of life terms, YES.
In what you’re probably looking for, IE substance, never gonna happen.
Please take everything you read in the forum with a grain of salt. The game has improved in a lot of areas, but it has its problems as well.
The biggest problem is this forum. There are enough toxic posters that you will get the wrong impression.
Please, don’t take my word for anything. Go play and see if you like it.
I guess it depends on what you mean by improved.
The Quality of Life in game has improved considerably. The LFG tool, Wallet, minor tweaks to the quest display in the corner, etc. There’s still no full UI customization, and the guild panel is still kinda barebones (but that is suppposedly changing soon-ish as well).
The Living Story is fairly hit-or-miss depending on who you ask, but it seems to be doing its job as busy work to keep people logging in. I personally haven’t found it crippling to miss an update… but your mileage may vary.
However, if you were someone who bought into the Manifesto and totally hold the game and the company to it… you will only be disappointed, because much of it HAS been compromised. I’d argue it had to… but honestly, if that’s what sold you on this game, don’t bother signing in again, because you will only be angry at what you find.

Ditto!!!!!!
Play it. If you stop enjoying it, stop.
You wont lose anything if you try play for a couple of days. You should see some alot of major content and pretty much good things that i think you would like it.
Imagine you went to your eye doctor to correct your sight. He insists that he can do laser eye surgery but once you’re on the table he elects to just remove your eye balls and replace them fluffy dice instead.
Don’t worry tho, you can have your eyes back. That is if you’re willing to pay for them

Seems a lot better back when it first came out and it gets better every day. At best the worst problems is how things are not handed to the players like it was when the game first came out you got to work for things now. This is what these forums have been asking for a harder game and they got it.
Guild : OBEY (The Legacy) I call it Obay , TLC (WvW) , UNIV (other)
Server : FA

I’ll echo most of this. It’s a succinct and (imo) accurate summation, though it’s perhaps instructive that the positive is QoL stuff. Although I’m one of those the Living Story has “missed.”
Removing magic find from gear is the reason I’m playing again.
TBH if you quit after just the first 2 weeks of gameplay I would say the game in general is just not to your taste. I seriously don’t think enough would have changed for you to think the game is that much more fun. Having said that tho as others have said I would give it another try and play because honestly no one here can answer your question. No one knows your exact likes/dislikes etc.
Either way, wb – I think lol.
I think its improved overall…
But they have wasted a lot of time better spent elsewhere with the Living Story and loads of temporary content.
The, ‘no expansion’ thing has cost them loads and loads of $’s as well.
Best to really ask it in game or try it yourself.
The forums are one of the more toxic I’ve seen in MMOs.
If you hate Guild Wars 2 it has not changed into something entirely else. They have improved the gameplay experience and such though but it’s still the same game.
They have improved the game immensely with the number of to-do lists that have been added over the last year.
If you didn’t care for it at launch, you may very well like it now. After all, plenty of people who thought it was amazing for the first three months have changed their minds.
