I think that, regardless of whatever bugs persist or personal issues you have with the game’s design, we should all be able to agree that GW2 is a huge bargain for the money.

There is much, much more content in GW2 than most $60 games out there.

So I wanted to revisit this thread because I had another affirmation that GW2 was the best money I’ve spent on a game in a long while.

I spent a little less money on Diablo 3, and I felt like I got OK value for my money. My first play through was great, and I put 100 or so hours in until it wasn’t fun. There have been a couple updates since I stopped playing, so I went to check them out, and realized that there was nothing that Blizzard could change (that doesn’t involve making an entirely different game) that would make me want to play again. It’s sad because I love the franchise

Contrast that with GW2, where I’m 250 or so hours in, I haven’t even come close to doing everything I want to do in the game (one of these days, I will make my level 80 finish her personal story and go into Orr), and I’m really looking forward to the Halloween content. The game isn’t perfect, but every time I log in, I notice some small improvement. Every issue I have with GW2 is likely to be fixed over time, and at the pace I play, new content will probably be added faster than I can finish it.

I feel a little guilty about taking advantage. Maybe I’ll go buy some more stuff in the gem store.

Yup, I would agree that it’s worth the money. Even if I was disappointed with the Halloween patch and felt like there was nothing to do, I am still glad that I spent the money. Also, I can quit for a few patches and not worry about my armor quickly becoming worthless. Also, I don’t have to debate whether or not my sub is worth it.

I will be writing a review for this game soon. To be fair, I didn’t want to write a review that only contains the starting excitement, instead I wanted a review that is fair and have uncovered most parts of the game.

I have leveled a ranger from 1 to 80 and have gotten the exotic gears/accessories.

I would have given this game a 8 or 9 out of 10 but may not depending on how it is written due to a terrible bug that plague the profession “ranger” which unfortunately for me to have chosen, but fortunate for future players to be reading it in future.

At the start, it wasn’t much of an issue, but as I travel along Tyria with many others and enter lands that are much more harsh, the bug began to drag this game down to a halt. From enjoyment to frustration each day I log in. I looked forward to entering Tyria, to see the next course of the story unfolding, to see the beautiful lands but all is lost 5 minutes into the world due to the fateful bug.

I won’t go into details here but for those interested, you may read it up as I did went through the proper channel to submit it. If they ever work on it, then this game’s review from me would be a 9/10 at least. Otherwise, to be honest, overall score would be dragged down similarly under game mechanics.

Yes it is worth the money i payed, even though frustration due to numerous bugs has turned down my enjoyment a couple of notches.

Yes for the initial 60.

But, a lack of any real community server and team/guild play wise (5 ppl to a team and no incentive to ever group outside of dungeons) coupled with a zero in game CSR team responding timely to players makes it play too much like a console RPG in my opinion.

I think a decent amount people who play this game feel very alone regardless if they don’t voice that out loud.

Yes it has. Only one class to 80 and I want to play them all! Still half the world left to see, dungeons to conquer, craft to master and WvWvW pvp.
I have taken a hiatus on WvWvW pvp due to the rendering problems (very frustrating). Hoping for a fix eventually. This is the only thing that might break the game for me, but I am being reasonable in the time needed to fix this.

I think it’s fantastic value for money, and that’s paying the equivalent of ~80 dollars (£50).

I paid the same amount for another (long-awaited) game this year, which I would not say the same thing about.

Strictly looking at the $60 and the hours played, the answer is yes. Would I buy it today? Nope. I generally want the games I buy to entertain me longer than 14 days (and this number is very generous in this case).

I have gotten my moneys worth to…I just made the mistake of having my hopes to high especially for sPVP and PVE endgame.

This is fine though….its a new game I will give them time to add more stuff and hire more staff lol.

In response to the topic question, yes.

Even though I havent logged in for more than 5 minutes since MoP, yes it was definitely worth it. Once WoW starts to get dull again (like it always does) GW2 will be here waiting for me with no strings attached i.e. a subscrition fee.

Yes!!! This is single handedly the best game I’ve ever played in such a long time! It is amazing!! If there is an accolade greater than 10/10, this game deserves it.

The game has been worth my money, I have a level 80 ranger, a 70 engineer and now a level 40ish mesmer and I have to say that every time I start a new character I get to see new lands i never seen before, new dynamic events and quest that I just either missed or never saw trigger on my previous characters.

At heart I am an alt-holic but what I wish the most for this game is that in the future they will include more things to do at level 80.

When I was playing my ranger the only thing I had to do with farm ORR or run dungeons. I did like dungeon crawling but farming in ORR got really boring and see the same undead for so many days drew me to create alts.

Please ANET create other things we can do at level 80 so we can continue to have fun with our MAINS. Enhance the dungeon crawling experience, maybe adding specific items drops that are legendary or exotic on bosses. This will give us many reasons to go kill a boss in a dungeon. I don’t know but I trust you are all very talented and can think of more stuff to give us to do at 80.

In an age where inflation is running rampant the $60 I paid was quite a value for the entertainment provided so far. Best thing is it will continue to entertain!

Two days ago I filled up a 32 gallon gas tank with 87 octane gasoline @ $4.86 a gallon. My gas tank tank is at 1/4 tank now! This game was steal at $60.

That sounds like a plan. And how about we come back to the thread on 01/01/2014? That might help give a bit of perspective to people when they realize they haven’t been paying any subs and the game is still there for them.

Of course, no MMO can be the answer for all players. I’m sure some people legitimately don’t like the game but I find it hard to believe that anyone could not understand what to expect if they had been doing any research in what ArenaNet has been saying. I think the problem is that people let their expectations get carried away and they just don’t realize what is really being said.

I got bored with it kind of early on compared to some other games I’m playing. Not a good sign. :\

if not questing with guild members, i am usually soloing in Cursed Shore, farming karma and selling Rare dropped items on the TP.

besides the “dynamic” events, which happen on some kind of timed/success rotation (especially around the Penitent Path, i think it’s called), most of the time it’s lonely and devoid of group play outside of PvP/World v. World. You can get just about anywhere by taking a bit more time by yourself than with a group, but is it worth the 60$? i would say so.

i am going for exotics now on my one character, as i have explored 94% of the map, already. i should go back and finish exploring World versus World and dungeons, but my skill level is not “up to par”, yet.

I do not have a major reason to re-roll – my ele has been everywhere in Tyria (except dungeons and Realms) so i kind of saw all of it once already. I will stick with it for awhile longer if i can. maybe by then new content will peak my interest. I am trying to re-roll 2 new characters, but i can’t bring myself to enjoy it a second or third time through.

i think the initial “WHOA Factor” has subsided, and i am just stalling myself from leaving.

I bought the Collector’s Edition. This game is in no way shape or form worth the $170 I spent. That said, it is worth $60.

I’ve “quit” the game, I’ll be coming back for an expansion (standard edition this time) unless the Elder Scrolls MMO completely captivates me (doubtful) or a spiritual successor to WAR, DAoC, or SWG gets announced and is subsequently released around the same time.

I believe I said this before, but I have only had the game a week and I have already got my moneys worth

If this was sold as a single player action rpg I’d say yes, but since this is an MMORPG for me personally no it hasn’t been worth it.

Bugs, bots, boredom, exploits, a drastic decline in communication, lack of rudimentary ingame tools and features, run of the mill dungeon mechanics, simply put it feels like the dream I envisaged during beta was doomed to remain just that, a dream.

Instead I got a dumbed down kiddie MMO with no distinct identity, nothing that actually stands out from the crowd. I sincerely hope that given time the game will mature to it’s full potential, until then sadly I’ll be spending my time doing something else that starts out fun and continues to be fun for longer than a month.

Yes, I definitely feel my $60 was well spent. I see myself playing this game for years to come, since I don’t feel that same need to ALWAYS play like I ever did with WoW or other MMOs. I can easily take time to go play another game and come back and pick up where I left off, or log on every couple nights for some WvsW fun times.

I am a little bored right now, but that’s expected with any game that I’ve played as much as I played GW2 in the first month. It doesn’t mean I hate the game or think it’s awful, it just means that I want to play something else for a while and I like that I don’t feel the need to log in everyday. That is a major plus of this game. There is still tons for me to do, but I’m taking my time to finish it all and I’m not behind the curve if I don’t do it all RIGHT NOW.

The game isn’t perfect, and that’s okay. I’m really looking forward to the future of the game.

I’m pretty sure the bug that appears to be affecting graphics cards at the moment killed my gtx 460 which means the game cost me over £220 lol

It is a loaded question given what people waste money on. MMO by design are intended to soak up hundreds/thousands of hours of gameplay, even if they are horrible games. To say it is great value because you have spent the time isn’t a true gauge, it just means the timesink components are functional.

I think it is a hit for the casuals and those who like competitive leaderboard PvP, but for me the game lacks depth. I think knowing what I know now about the game would I purchase it again? Probably not. I don’t mind pottering around, especially with friends but I can waste the same amount of time playing Solitaire and I didn’t pay anything for that.

Absolutely, already has. But what I know about GW and ANet is that this game will have many, many years of life. We are about to get our first of very, very many live event content holiday fests, and it’s just gonna be sweet.

Regardless, I hit the forums to say some positive things, and this is as good a place as any.

1) The create-a-character is awesome
2) The world is huge and breath-taking
3) The combat system itself is fun, and does a lot to move the genre forward
4) These graphics could last me ten more years
5) All the classes are fun in their own way
6) Level-scaling means friends never have to play alone
7) Sound, control, and animations are solid
8) Lots of gear combined with dyes make for great customization (PvE only)
9) Many ways to level, many ways to make gold
10) PvP is aesthetic gear progression only: casual friendly, +1 true competition
11) No subscription means alot for young people and the hard-working, bravo

No. I was excited for the game during beta, but now I understand why we were only allowed to play for 2 days out of the month. This game is pointless. It looks pretty, I’ll give it that. But essentially the game never changes from the first map, leveling is pointless, crafting is a joke, rewards are nonexistent, and the developers don’t seem to have a freaking clue what they’re doing with the updates (example: Ranger, and the lie about an animation bug that never existed—an excuse to nerf them). My interest in the game started dwindling around level 60. Now I can barely be bothered to play the game at all. Why? Because Guild Wars 2 is like a bad girlfriend who never, ever puts out. So in the end, it’s all a waste of time. There is no satisfaction to be found!

If I had to pay a monthly subscription I’d say not worth it, but the $60 seems fair for what I’ve gotten. I could see it getting old within a month if W3 isn’t changed, or if sPvP is left as it is with only conquest mode.

The Digital Delux version is pointless waste of 20$ compare to standard version. Bonuses so pathetic and shamefull so I don’t even want to talk about this. Just shame to greedy ANet.
60$ – yes, the game cost it’s money but only with b2p. For me – there is not enough motivation to spent a lot of time in pve amd www, they are completly not rewardable. Only spvp with my friends for few hours every day. I waited GW2 more than 2 years and got bored by it in less than 1 month, this is huge fail in my eyes.
