Merry Christmas to my fellow players and the Anet team. This is just a gentle reminder that the starter areas are apt to be filled with brand-new players today, who unwrapped that pretty white box for the first time this morning. This may be their very first MMO, or they may be a veteran gamer who had a family member say, “Oh, that one with the dragon on the box looks cool!” Or maybe it was on their wish list!
Whatever the case, they’re stepping into Tyria 2.0 for the first time, and they’re going to have lots of questions. How do I get here, what does this do, etc. Be a friendly fellow adventurer and help them out with their questions. Make build suggestions, give ‘em a hand if they’re stuck with a too-tough mob, and if you’re a crafter you can even help them become better equipped. Show them cool stuff like jumping puzzles that they may otherwise miss.
The payoff? You may gain a great new friend/guild member, one who will run back to his/her friends and say, “Hey, the GW2 community is awesome!” Then more new players will arrive, server populations will grow some more, and we all win.
Today is a chance for GW2 to shine, as a game and as a community. Let’s not squander it.
