Curiously I’m having problems with vistas … yes, that’s right – you heard me right. I’m an experienced player with more than five thousand hard-earned points. In simpler terms, I’ve done it all, seen it all and pretty much ace the requirements for playing Guild Wars 2 but just recently I’ve noticed that some of the vistas, especially a couple in Lion’s Arch (the one where trader’s forum used to be) and in Lornar’s Pass (false river valley specifically) are near impossible to reach no matter how I try.

I’m expecting a few of you to reply with “you’re not trying hard enough” or “you give up too easily” and I wish that was the case but the truth of the matter is, there are no readily available surfaces from which to launch oneself in the case of Lion’s Arch (and I have not worked out how to fly yet – joke) and in Lornar’s Pass I can reach the bit right beneath the hand-guard on the sword but can proceed no closer and in both instances I’m playing as my favorite race; the Charr.

The point is, ARENANET DESIGNERS I’ve stopped enjoying the game! God only knows what the newbies think, for it can be amazingly frustrating when you cannot get that last vista or reach it because it is simply unreachable! I’m interested in knowing if anyone else has experienced this, and one more thing – if anyone knows the jumping puzzle to the south of Cereboth Canyon in Kessex Hills (I know how to do this puzzle and get the chest) I have no idea how to get at the ore as there ONCE AGAIN does not seem to be any means wherein I can get up high enough to reach it (that I can see or find).

Most vistas are easy. There are a few that are basically jumping puzzles without the reward, though.

Yes, I’ll be that guy and say you’re not trying hard enough and you give up too easily.

How about checking out this youtube video on how to do the Marionette..

Thank you Vol.7601 for posting the video, but I wish to inform you that I tried that, I tried just about every move a Charr is capable of and still could not make it. Sometimes (when I was lucky) I leapt clean over the top of the hilt but most of the time I just kept “running on the spot” so to speak as the window of insertion is so small as to put the percentages of landing on the right spot very small indeed.

Practice jumping in Arah, that worked for me.

The way I personally did it was jump on the opposite side of the ‘gear’ handle.

The video posted above had the player jump on the top part. Try jumping on the bottom part.

Thank you, Vol.7601, and indeed that is what happened. In my case I approached the fallen machine and ran up it without any issue (do not try running up the sword) and got to the flat surface immediately below the pommel. I then began hammering on my SPACE BAR to launch me in the direction of the curved upper side of the pommel guard without success – the Charr simply could not reach it – and relocated myself numerous times to try the best angle and distance. I got absolutely nowhere. I eventually managed to do it on what was probably the 50th-60th attempt (I’m counting all them jump attempts) which is insane! Those of you interested will be pleased to know that once you have got there you can gingerly nudge/walk over to the grip and carefully proceed up it and see the vista. I’ll be honest, that bugged the (CENSORED) out of me and I have a lot of patience! This does not detract from the fact as posted in my opening comment that if it can drive people who are experienced crazy, I wonder what it is doing for the morale of newbies!
