Q:

I only have the R-tron models and I switch them via bank whenever I switch toons. However, is it worth it having other Harvesting tools?

A:

Thats totally up to you. They are (cept the watchwork pick due the sproket bonus) the same thing… just look different. I personally own 4 of these things… a 5th gets added once the mad scientist wood gathering tool hits the store just cause i like the look of it so if you feel you got enough with 3…then you got enough

Having multiple tools for each character is nothing but convenience if you can afford it. Some people like having matching tools that compliment character looks, so as mentioned above, it’s up to you.

I have meanwhile 37 of them i think .. but i’m a little crazy

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

I have a set of the first ones that came out (because I diden’t know if they were going to be the only set) But I now have two full sets. I do want to get the mad sci set but its hard to justify.

Just let me know when the PVE/PVP skill separation happens.

Can Engi please have more than one viable skill set in PVE? Turrets maybe?

I have two sets, which I keep on the characters that I play most. If I’m doing map completion, I always make sure that character has the watchwork pick. It’s up to you whether the convenience of having multiple sets is worth it. One would suffice for me, but I bought my first set when they were rarely in the gem store so I didn’t have the ones that I really wanted. Finally broke down and bought the watchwork pick along with the logging axe & sickle that I wanted.

I bought a full set…the watchwork, a log o tron and the new mad scientist harvesting one. I can’t see buying more, as I can just switch them to other characters. I did buy the watchwork one after I bought a mine o tron because the watchwork drops sprockets. That on it’s own is worth the gems.

I have the original 3 and don’t feel like it’d be worth it to get more. Especially not now I have almost 250 of the Wintersday tool boxes.

I just wish I’d known they were going to make other versions later on. I don’t mind the axe and sickle but I really dislike the lava effect on the pickaxe and would much rather have another version (like the bone pick or the mine-r-tron), but I don’t feel like I can justify spending 1000 gems simply to change the animation.

I bought the originals, then the clockwork for the sprockets. No plans to add more unless they provide some benefits — like the sprockets.

That’s what I did. Not happy spending 1000 for the second pick, but whatever. That’s the one I pass around to my alts while my main operates the original 3.

I have 2 sets of unlimited tools. One stays with my farming character and the other gets traded around to the character I’m currently playing the most.

I have one set for the convenience of them, but I can’t justify to myself the price for more, fun animations or not. I make sure I deposit them in the bank at the end of each day and pick them up again at the start. I wouldn’t mind more but not at 1000 gems each.

The snowflakes aren’t actually worth that much if your intent is to sell. I figure it’s better to get sprockets that sell well, unless you need to use the snowflakes, that is.

I have one full set of perma tools, plus two extra picks. I dislike the fact that I’ve got more than one full set, because I only use the Watchwork pick. As to whether it’s worth it or not is a decision left up to you.

It’s completely up to personal taste; some people are willing to buy gems for the convenience of not having to swap them around, other people won’t even buy one set because it’s a lot of gems and they’d rather keep buying limited charge tools with in-game gold.

I have one set (the first ones), the clockwork pick for the sprockets, and the dreamcleaver axe because I love how it looks. If they ever come out with picks and sickles to match the dreamcleaver, I’ll buy those, but otherwise, nah, I have enough.

It’s all about how many gems you are willing to spend in the name of convenience.

I have 3 watchwork picks and may pick up a 4th.

Last I looked they had ALL the unlimited tools available (and they have been for more than a month or so).

BiS: Watchwork pick (free gold with each swing), Consortium Sickle (slightly faster), Any Axe but the wasp one (locked animation = bad)

I think I have 4 and a partial sets? I stopped keeping track. I know I have a set I pass around to my leveling characters, and I have a set on each of my ‘regularly played’ 80s. And I have an ax on the character that does my daily home instance nodes.

Eventually i’d like to get each character its own thematic set (ele gets the fiery tools, engi gets the r-tron set, necro got the ghastly, etc)

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.
