Heart of Thorns: GW2 included
No, the core game is included free for new customers/accounts. Existing players only get the expansion.

I’ve noticed that buying the Expansion Heart of Thorns also includes a standard copy of GW2. Does it mean that I will have an additional account when I only use the expansion to upgrade my existing account? Can I use the standard copy of GW2 which is added to the package as a stand alone?
It upgrades your current account to HoT. You do not get an extra account out of it.

So why do they mention a standard version of GW2 is included… I want that standard GW2 copy too. It doesn’t say anything so specific on the buy.guildwars2.com site.
Because, as I stated the core game is added for free for new customers.
I do agree the wording should have been more clear though. It should have stated something like, “Core game included free for new customers.” Again there is plenty of discussion on this issue in the Hot forum for your reading pleasure.

As a customer I don’t wanna have to read a forum to be informed of what I’m buying, it should be clearly stated in the shop. This is outrageous.

I feel like all the time and money I already spent on the game is worthless because I will have to pay the same as a new player that doesn’t even have the game. 2 years of my life well spent

I agree with you on this, at least make the upgrade for existing players less expensive. They have been dedicated to ArenaNet all this time, and now get to pay the full price for being so loyal.
I spend loads of money in the gemstore. I’m guessing it’s time to find another game to spend money on and just play this one casually…
Well you can buy a new account and get both. Of course you will have to start all over as it won’t have all the achievements, items, and currency that you have accumulated over those years of playing. New players don’t have those 2 years of entertainment you received from the game either.
This my last post on this as I have stated the main discussion on this is in the HoT forum you will find many likeminded players there as well as others that disagree with your stance.
