To be honest, we have no idea what to expect. Sure a lot of these suggestions are great, but this will be the first expansion to guildwars 2 so we really don’t have any concrete evidence of any of these changes we should be “expecting”.
I do not belive they would add a whole new race into the game. That simply doesn’t make any sense. Sure Anet has said they would like to but they wouldn’t just throw it at us like that. It is more likely for a new class than a new race. Historically guildwars has added new classes to their standalone expansion, but like I said before this is the fist GW2 expansion so it’s all up in the air. New weapons and skills will most likely occur.
Also Lordkrall you can find the list of hinted/discusses ideas for guildwars 2 in the wiki, under Upcoming changes and features.

I think by looking at the forums, he means the CDI’s. Which would account for some of the things on that list, but not all.

Heart of Thorns is most likely an expansion. It’s like 99% leaning toward an expansion and not Season 3 of the LS.
What I expect we get from this expansion by looking at this forum and interviews by ArenaNet.
