Ok i’m the classic “shining knight” (warrior), but am I the only one that noticed the lack of quality about heavy armors look compared to the rest? Most of the light and medium one are cool and are easily “mixable” together with different sets. Instead (mostly for humans) I noticed a lack of cool heavy legplates (in fact most people goes around with the draconic) thanks to the “cape” alike look.
That’s quite sad, because it seems we’re all made with a stamp.
I also noticed that except a couple, most of the armor are “flat” that’s not a real issue thanks to bump mapping and lightning / shaders effects, but it becomes horrid when you notice p.e. that matching a the cultural tier 3 for human with a different chest from other stuff provide a mismatch of the waist size (very noticeable).

It would be nice to make heavy armor more “matchable” between different set. Especially for legsplates. It seems that only sets are the only viable solution to keep a good look and that’s sad because the style of sets is below the standards for heavy armors compared to others armor types IMHO.

This isn’t a babycry, i hope only that a better matching in heavy pieces encourages different looking styles, because now we all have the same legs and mostly the same shoulders (and i had to transmute to take the guardian one with my warrior to feel more personal).
I would also agree to purchase via gem store the pieces, like primeval, if they were available (and with a single piece preview possibly, so buying the whole set seeing how to fit every single piece individually).

This is currently how i’m equipped.

One last Q: Why did we get a “damaged” version of the Noble armor (CM dungeon set)? It’s the most difficult piece to match (look at my greaves) due its particular skin.

It’s a three months old topic, but I’d like to concur about the looks of the Noble’s armor heavy set you get by trading Caudecus Manor tokens.
Why is it tattered? Can’t we have a brand new version like the one wore by the NPC vendor?

Whether something is either wrong or right, someone will always complain about it.

I love heavy armor some legs r bad but almost all heavy looks threatening.

I’d lean more at the medium and the trenchcoats having the negative area.

One of the reasons I never rolled a guardian or warrior was the heavy armor. With light and medium you have this wide array of looks that can suit almost any character style, but with heavy armor they are all the same- bulky, knightish look. I mean, from a realistic standpoint it makes sense being heavy armor and all… but from a customization standpoint, that may not necessarily be the look I was going for on my character.

Some variety would do heavy users a world of good.

I think heavy armour is fine. Medium needs more variety. For heavy armour you have so many variations like: chainmail, scalemail, splinted platemail, banded plate, full plate aswell as gladiator and pit fighter styles etc. you can mix and match some sets quite well like the splint helm, shoulders, gloves and kodan chest, pants and boots make you look like a spartan. For medium you can mix and match most of the sets easier but the problem is most of the medium sets are the same trenchcoat look so it doesnt really matter….

My warrior is biased in as much as she’s Sylvari. Mixing and matching is oddly very easy due to one piece of armour being a constant- the cultural T2 shoulders. It sounds weird but with those shoulders I can use pretty much any top with any gloves and helm (although I rarely wear my helm). Leggings are a little more of a problem and I usually base my decision on what top I am wearing. Boots then have to match the leggings and gloves which is a little harder again.

At the moment ive got three sets:

H/S/C/H/L/F
1) T2/T2/T2/Draco/TA/T2
2) TA/T2/Karma/TA/Outriders/Mad Kings
3) SE/T2/Draco/Draco/TA/Draco (need skins for H and F)

Retired and living in a shack. Relaxing!

I agree that heavy armor is better off in terms of variety than medium, but it would still be nice to have some options that were more “paladin” than “barbarian.” Right now most stuff is tattered or has skulls hanging off of it, which looks really strange on a guardian. It’s worse on non-humans, as humans at least get their cultural armor.

0_o I always thought medium was the most diverse of all the armor sets lol

ALL armor has this problem. The sets don’t mix and match. They are all so specific to a style that you can’t replace one piece with a piece from another set without it looking obviously out of place.

Hey I just met you – And this is crazy –
But here’s my body – So rez me maybe?

With medium sets, I’ve found a good couple that mix/match very well. The only real issue that I’ve seen with them on mixing is CLIPPING. Clipping on medium and light armor sets can be horrid sometimes. If they fixed that, the number of possible medium combinations would expand greatly.

I think the soldier professions have the best balance for armor looks. There’s a good variety compared to, say, the medium armors that are all trenchcoats, or the light armors that are nearly all skimpy on the ladies.

I also wanted a very “knightly” look for my main, and I think she looks pretty kitten awesome in her current set. (Linked a pic.) It’s mostly heritage armor but with the crafted exotic leg piece (I love flowing stuff), and with those large heritage shoulders, gloves and boots makes my warrior look strong and stoic like a knight even though human females look quite frail in this game.

I wish it showed my girl’s legs instead of those scales pants. (I like armor that’s juuuuuust a little bit revealing.) I also wish the metal thing covering the legs was a little higher so it covers the seam on the waist. But other than that it is dead on the look I’m looking for.
