Players who play like 2 hours a day will probely never get it complete.
This is the very unique reward that shows off how much effort you’ve put in the game as a whole (Pvp set is unique to pvp, so it not count). It is easily attainable for someone that play 2 hours/day. I play 30~50 min a day and I got 21k points myself.
I’d only be OK with the AP skins going into the gem store if they required 40,000 gems for each piece.
Not even with such price I would like to have it in the store.
GW2 have so few skins that requires work/dedication and the radiant/hellfire are among them, so let it as it is.

By 9k AP you can have 1 of the sets complete (gloves, shoulders, helmet) or mix and match. By 18k AP you have both.
Also there are only 3 pieces per set. Now go troll somewhere else.

Instead of adding those sets on the gem store, they should rework when you get them. Allowing players to focus on one of the two sets and get all pieces before moving to the next one is an easy solution. Or, because that might make one set very easy to get, split them in 2. First you get helms, gloves, shoulders of one set, then helms, gloves, shoulders of the second (exactly how it is now), but do the same for the next 3 pieces. Get Boots, Leggings, Chest of the first set, then Boots, leggings, chest of the second one.
One of the things I dislike about Hellfire (Radiant doesn’t have this “issue”) is how horrible the leggings look alone. It’s very hard to find a combination for them, and having to wait for another 6k APs to get the chest piece is a very long period of time.
At the very least I’d suggest getting the chest just after the leggings, instead of requiring the player to get the second leggings first.

It would help if they had changed the order of the rewards so that by 18k AP you could get a complete set. But to get the other you still need 36k AP.
The pvp community reminds me of what Obi-kittenenobi describes Mos Eisley as from star wars.
Always there are players who hate other’s, but i dont like to do all the stuf you need for AP and i almost only play w vs w for many hours, and i dont think its fair that players must do those events and other stuf if they dont like it while they play the same hours or even more like me.
And i think there will be allot players that like that skin, of course all the players that have allot AP will be kittened off, but still those players also have all the other rewards from chests like perm more gold from killing, more magic find, more karma etc, so why complaing start sharing :P give others also the change to get something nice that they want.
And there is a lot of reasons for that explained above, let we have at least 1 set avaiable unique to those willing to put effort on get it, since even legendary’s are buyable with credit card.
As much I love some gemstore itens for example, I don’t need those skins to play, so I am okay that I can’t get it due to it’s been locked behind a paywall.

Cause would upset (And be unfair to) a lot of players that put hours of effort into getting this skin? and I mean the people that really put effort totally focused on those particular skins, and not someone like me that find achievments a natural flow of the game.

People do earn this, via achievement points. And I’m opposed to it because I think rewards that have to be earned (AP chest skins, luminescent skins, the mini llama, the mistforged weapons, etc.) shouldn’t become gem store items.

It wouldn’t do any bad, but some people have grinded AP so they can be the few who have access to this skin. And I don’t mean grind like they grinded a week, I’m talking they’ve been grinding AP since day one.
You don’t see a problem with someone working towards something for years only to have it now become available to everyone with a credit card or a bunch of gold?
No it won’t physically harm anyone if it was available, but it’s a complete kick to the groin for people who have worked diligently for it.
As someone said, I personally would be ok with it on gem store if the price was 40,000 gems per piece. That would deter 99.999% from getting it. And those like OP that absolutely must have it and absolutely do not want to put any effort into getting it can make a sizable investment to Anet for it. In addition, someone with that set with low AP would also have to carry the public shame of spending $3000 for a skin because they simply didn’t want to work for it.
You can BUY the skin from the Gem store, but it does not have the effects (the radiant glow or the fire and smoke) unless you meet the AP requirements.
So unless you were an AP grinder from start (you could have 25-38K AP by now)
It should take you ~6 yrs and the purchase for HoT for AP’s to get to 36 k when playing a bit more then casual.
I’m at almost 18K ap… (17,8 something) And I played 2 yrs minues 2 or 3 weeks holidays.
In fact I missed only 2 events… 1 being the karka invasion of LA (crashing instances and so on) and the other.. well… I was on holidays aty the time… some LS S1 thing as well.
I also missed 4 days due to an operation…

Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.
It’s an exclusive armour that can only be achieved through… well through grinding AP like a mad person… but let’s say though being a veteran player. A full set basically tells you: this fella is awesome (or something in that line).
When I see some of these AP skins (especially the boots), I have a sense of appreciation towards the player- I know that they’re a loyal player that has put a lot of effort into the game.
Being able to bypass the effort ruins the prestige of these items.
Will OP’s suggestion ever happen? Most probably not. We’ve already seen A-net rethink “prestige”- the new Legendary weapons will not be tradeable, for example. They don’t want players to be able to obtain prestigious items without the effort.
It cost me allot effort to make gold in this game, i am flipping coins on trading like allot others do, i get allot items from w vs w what i sell, so i do allot effort what you dont see, and to see if players did put effort in the game most players look at there AP not there armor?
And allot players will be happy to buy it, and this can give the game allot money from selling gems, and a game is also about the money, this keeps the game alive.
I know some players dont like me, and allot have double or triple accounts to stalk others and troll them, so i want to say if you troll me it doesnt matter, i will say what i want, and i ask friendly to add this to the store. And some response very hatefull in my eyes. And if i spend 8 hours a day to w vs w because i like that more and do allot effort for the server where i play for, i dont get any extra AP like many others for doing that.
Allot players get bored and stopped playing because also it takes soooo long to get that skin.
No! … I play this game over 10-15 hours each day! I farm AP, I have over 25k atm. I WANT a way to show that I am a vet player and having full Hellfire/Radiant one day is perfect way to do so.

If you’re quitting a game over getting a skin then you’re not interested enough in the game. Will the skin make all the difference really?
I’ve got a total of 2.5k hours and quit the game for a considerable amount of time.
I missed Christmas 2012/2013, and didn’t return until Haloween 2014. So I missed all of LS 1, all of the Karka event and anything inbetween. I missed SAB, and all the achievement points linked to all these events.
Right now I have most collections complete, the majority (missing maybe 1) of story achievements complete, the majority of sPvP achievements (slowly getting champs on other chars) and I’m sat at 10.5k AP
There isn’t a great deal AP wise that I can go and get except super grinding weapon slayers/pvp/wvw achievement points.
I guess this is my only criticism with the current AP system that given some achievement points are locked off forever (LS1 Holiday Events) it’s somewhat impossible for me to get above perhaps 15k AP right now. (That’s just a guess)
Even if I max out all my PvP/WvW/Collections (this is a MASSIVE time investment by the way which even people with 26k+ AP don’t have most of these done) I wouldn’t reach the 15k AP chest. I’d be reliant on dailys to actually get me up to the higher levels.
While I get it’s really nice for players to get achievement points for non-permanent content there does need to be a way (soon) for players who did happen to miss out on content / new players to start to build their way up to the higher AP markers.

Always there are players who hate other’s, but i dont like to do all the stuf you need for AP and i almost only play w vs w for many hours, and i dont think its fair that players must do those events and other stuf if they dont like it while they play the same hours or even more like me.

There needs to be a point to compel people to do the AP tasks, and those skins are a large part of it.
If people are diligent enough to play in a way that nets them that much AP, they should have something to show for it. It’s not fair or polite to ask that the prizes be straight buyout so you do not have to do the same work that those players did. You’re not more special than they are.

Except WvW should not have been part of the map completion to begin with, it is not a part of Tyria, it is part of the Mists. Not only that, but lower population servers with a small/non-existent WvW player base were pretty much screwed out of completing all of the maps. It’s not so much laziness as it is accessibility. This is coming from someone that did map completion before WvW was removed from it, it was completely unnecessary.
I must agree that also new players that cant do the events from the past also never can reach that amounth of AP.
And maybe 1600 gems isnt much for allot players who are not rich like some others cant effort it.

Wrong. The players who missed the old holiday events and such can reach that amount with new achievements. They’ll just get there later than the players who were there to get the old achievements.

No, if Anet for some reason went crazy and put these on the gem store, they should be at least 1k gems per piece. That being said, I’m fairly certain they won’t ever put these on the gem store. They even caved in and reskinned the Flamekissed light armor skin set when enough people complained about how non-humans were able to use the human cultural skin.

So? They’ll catch up eventually. And if they can’t play that often, then they clearly have more important things going on and should be able to realize that it’s ok if you won’t always be able to get a trophy if you don’t have time to put in the work.

The reason they dropped the WvW map completion wasn’t because of ANet backing lazy players but because they are taking out the old WvW map and putting in a new one. The new map will not have the same degree of difficulty as the old one. There are choke points and traps that the old map doesn’t have and from the description it will be significantly harder for PvE people to get map completion there. Imo, since they did not make the two maps equal in difficulty, they removed the requirement as it wasn’t fair to make map completion harder for those who haven’t done it yet.
I have 100% map on 8 chars, so I’m not one of the “lazy players”

Oh yes, i agree they should remain AP only. I will probably never have 33k AP, so i wont ever have one of these sets, not because i dont play the game, but ive done all the achievements for the game mode i enjoy the most. PVE and Story, and well dungeons, but im slowly getting those points too. Even if i did the 3 or 4 that i dont have that wouldnt even be enough to get my 9.5k AP chest. So it really is along term goal, as it should be.

You complete a set at 30k AP, 33k gives your 2nd leg skin, 36k your 2nd chest skin.

People are taking issue with 2 things you are saying.
1. The having a life thing you keep saying it implying that the others don’t and that the way they choose to spend their time is somehow less valid than yours.
2. You are asking for an ultra rare skin that will be obtainable by only a select few as an extreme prestige item to be made a dirt common skin that every player in the game can get. If you’ve ever played an MMO before you will understand why they will be opposed to this as people have invested far more time and effort towards the goal than the measly 20$ price point you suggested.

Well, it would have been slightly better if 30k wasn’t above the current maximum AP total (including the historical ones, that are no longer available for new players).

Playing for over 2 years and half when dailies gave you like 25+ ap x day you know, all the living story and festivals achievements which don’t seem to be coming any time soon. So sure for a player who started to play lately it’ll be as easy as ever to get 30k+ ap at the current state (where if you got most of the explore/slayer/weapon achis you basically get barely 10 ap x day). 3000 days of dailies, about 8 years and most of the armor will be yours!
