Guild Wars 2

Hello everyone I didnt see a place for new posters, so i Figured I would say hello here. I have been playing GW2 now for about a month, Granted I work 70 hour weeks and some nights I dont get on due to being in places with no wireless signal, so i am very casual. My main is only a level 30 ele.

Anyway just wanted to say hi. I have to say i am really enjoying the game. Its like a breath of fresh air compared to many of the MMOs I have tried. Getting rid of the stale chore/quest system is one of the best moves ever. The DEs are great and probably the best version of Public quests I have seen to date. The Halloween Event is just sheer awesome. Its about time that a development team realizes that some events like the appearance of the Mad King should be a one time thing. If your their for it.. thats great, if your not you hear about it and it builds that since of WOW that sounds awesome. I missed it myself but did watch it on youtube.

Ohh about myself I am an old schooler (EQ1 beta and played it for 7 years), have tried to many MMOs to list. Most MMOs I dont make it to the forums because the games were lacking. So me being here is a good achievement in and of itself. Vanguard, WAR, and EQ1 are the only game specific forums i have tried to take part of the community in. Others I just lurked from time to time.

It’s nice to see such a positive thread on the side while debating things that don’t work so well.

Nice of you to introduce yourself.
You wouldn’t know it, but it means a lot that you express
your positive feelings towards the game, on this forum.

Some “experts” on various fan site forums were saying “GW2 is B2P – free to play – you will never get free content updates”. I’m very glad that all those experts look stupid now. And halloween is only a “small” patch compared to what is coming November 15.

Welcome! Good to see another Warhammer vet, or should I say ‘survivor’ of that enormous trainwreck of an MMO lol

It’s always interesting to hear how players who enjoyed previous MMOs like EQ1 also seem to enjoy Guild Wars 2. I’ll be honest, I did not really care much for the previous MMOs I’ve tried and I never understood how people could continue to play them for so long.

It’s pretty amazing ArenaNet has made a game that appeals to someone who loved EQ1 like yourself, and someone who couldn’t be paid enough to play games like that such as myself

Guild Wars 2 really seems to be a unique game. And I’m looking forward to sharing the story of it with everybody here.

People enjoying the game are for most playing it, and not wasting hours to post on forums. That’s why all forums are usually more negative, it definitely doesn’t reflect the reality of what happens in game.
And of course, there’s always that very “vocal minority” only posting to get some attention… and what gets more attention than bashing a game on its own website? ;-)
