New player here. So new I haven’t created a character yet. Just want to know, how do I make a catgirl character. but not with a gazelle mixed in. Or whatever wildlife, look I just wanna look kinda like the nyan cat thing.

Ok disregard, that’s not my real question. Here goes.

Most things I’ve read about Guild Wars don’t mention guilds, it’s called Guild Wars, what role do guilds play?

The uh, previous comparable game I played (let’s just call it Arkage), well, guilds kind of gave people a lot of advantages.

But I spent my 100s of hours in the game just wandering lands alone, occasionally getting murdered by enemy players… the point is I’ve resolved to get more involved with the multiplayer aspect in Guild Wars. Is a guild something I should be finding early?

Guilds in Guild Wars 2 are nothing like Guilds in Archeage. You don’t have to get into a guild immediately but it’s more fun for some people to play with other people. I prefer getting into a guild early, it’s just not necessary.

There’s no open world PvP here in PvE, so you don’t need the protect of a guild. Guilds do have guild missions which you can start doing from a pretty low level, at least some of them, and they do offer buffs which the guild can trigger for the guild.

Obviously if you’re into PvP, particularly WvW (which is big scale PvP), a guild wouldn’t hurt.

But you don’t have to rush right out and find one to enjoy the game.

Gem store may get cat ears some day.

Guild halls coming http://dulfy.net/2015/01/24/gw2-heart-of-thorns-pax-south-livestream-notes/

Server (Guilds) if looking into WvW http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/WvW_Spring_Tournament_2014

Guilds do provide a bunch of perks as you level gathering, loot, exp, wvw teams, guild missions, etc..not a must at all though to rush into for. Find a guild w/similar interests as you go and it should fall into place.

and you can be in multiple guilds at one time, unless a guild requires 100% rep.

thanks guyz,
I got the deluxe edition at the end of the recent sale, are the bonuses valuable in game, or just convinience and tiny boost vs monsters?

Just convenience and small boost/cosmetic. The mistfire wolf is a cool looking skill and is nice to have once you unlock elite skills as you get it for free, but as you unlock your class specific elite skills you’ll probably never touch it again. The rest of the items are mainly just convenience.

Well the said bonuses you can get from these boosters you can also get from banners high ranking members of every guild can plant anywhere in the world. Valuable? Certainly.. specially for leveling for that extra xp boost or if you are out for high level loot later on with magic find or karma (karma is a form of currency you get for doing guild wars2´s form of quests). The boosters you get with the deluxe edition are basically just like those you get from said banners.. just convinient in your inventory and ready to use anytime you want. You see… guild wars isnt a p2w game. Anything you need to be stat wise as well equipped as others is available in game. If im not completely wrong you do get skins for your armor in the deluxe edition too. You can use these to change the appearance of your currently equipped armor pieces to make yourself a nice look…and i think there is an inventory box in it too…18 extra spots, really good for starters. You can get more inventory space easily by crafting more and bigger bags or buying them for copper, silver and gold from the trading post aswell. Well, to sum it up, the stuff you get with the deluxe edition are convinient and make the first steps into tyria a tiny bit easier

Just a warning about guilds dont join one randomly. A lot of people will advertise especially in low level areas. If you want some companionship just post on the open world lfg “LF people to level with” and make some friends. Join a guild once you know some people in it already. Just my two cents

I don’t know if you’re aware, being a new player, but you can be in up to 5 guilds at any given time. You will only be able to have one “active” at any given time (representing).

While representing you have access to that guild’s chat, bank and perks.

Why join 5 guilds? That is up to you. For example, say that you like every aspect of the game, i.e., dungeons, WvW, sPvP, world bosses, roaming, chatting, RPing, etc.

It is very hard to find a guild (I think) that does all those things. And I say this particularly because of WvW. You see, you can join any guild from any server and play with those guys on any map. Except WvW. You can only fight by the side of the people from your own server.

So it makes sense to be able to have a guild for WvW (if you’re into it) and at least one more guild for anything else.
