Hi, people!

I used to play quite a bit Guild Wars 2 from release till around after the Halloween event. Though, since, I haven’t really had the time to play but I’m getting back into the game now, and thought it’d be lovely if there was a few members out there who could tell me a bit about what’s new, what’s going on, what’s changed, what’s worth to know etc.. :3

I’m going to be reading up here and there of course but I’d still love if people could point out what they think is most notable changes and news, so I can get right back into the game. ^^

For a lot of great information on what is happening and/or what has changed you can read the patch notes and game releases.

Thanks so far! I believe there’s a lot of catching up to do. Gonna take some time.. xD
I started a guild all the way back at release, which obviously has kind of died out with inactivity.. I want to restore it back up but need to get hang of the game again before I do that.

Do anyone have recommendations where I should start with the new stuff?

You should probably finish off the Living Story stuff since this chapter is closing out on Tuesday. It ends with a fairly easy dungeon and you get a free skin.

Yeah, this about all you can experience, since everything else has been temporary content. You still have about 2 days to finish all the stuff for the Flame and Frost Living Story arc though (which should be more than enough time, since its not much, even though its been the last 4 updates). You did miss out on one of the best content they have released (Super Adventure Box), but that should be coming back eventually with new worlds.

? I thought it was May 12th Noon Pacific, except for lost and found (I think), which was due to last main patch removing the npcs/ dirt/snow spots.

Thanks! I’m pretty far with FaF now, I’d say, (at very least in the achievements I only need to do Lost and Found and Secret Contact now, (save for the Alliance Breaker and Rallying Flame ones..))
I can’t really find those dirt/snow spots though, some people said they’re still there. Hmm.. :s

Pretty confused about that ‘Super Adventure Box’ thing.. What was that all about?

it was anet’s April fool’s joke. basically it was a jumping puzzle which had a lot of homages to classic 8-bit games. it’s gone for now but will probably be back

I recommend running around holding ctrl. It will show the text above the objects you need to find. Also, Dulfy posted some very nice guides on how to find them, you can follow them if that’s your kind of thing.

I recommend it since there is only a few days left. And one more thing, If you’re not finding the items on the map and you’re sure you’re looking in the right place, it may be bugged. In that case, guest to another server and try looking there. I had to do this for the last 3 lost and found items in the Shiverpeaks.

Happy hunting

Super Adventure Box it was a dungeon that was a play back to old school games (like Zelda and Mario), so it was “8-Bit” like graphics, all used in the GW2 game engine. It was a game within a game, for the most part. It consisting of different levels/zones, which you could choose later levels to start at if you had beaten the previous ones (so you didn’t have to start all the way from the beginning each time you went back to it). The wiki (linked at beginning), can explain it better than me (and it has pictures).

As for the Lost and Found item locations, it seems some worlds are still bugged, so they don’t show up, which means you’ll need to guest on a different one to get them.

The Lost and found ones actually have many more locations and the ones in the guide are just general guidelines of where they show up. Be sure to run around holding control and try to view each area from every possible angle so that you don’t miss it when it hiding behind a tree.

per Colin Johanson:

We’re trying something very unique and different with Gw2, and a lot of it plays back on the original ideas and concepts we had for the game all these years we’re trying to build towards and accomplish. It’s important to us to continue to try new things, looking at ways of evolving and innovating what a live game can be. In many cases, we’re learning right along with you guys how all of this is going to work for a live game, and constantly adjusting as we see the outcomes and find ways to innovate on what a true online world experience can be.

Living World is above all, the attempt to really give the sense the world is constantly changing and evolving. That there is events and content that change the world in the short term (like our current events) and events that can occur or change for the long term, which is what we’re slowly building towards in the future with Living World content.

Living world absolutely does not mean nothing but content that comes in and leaves again a few weeks later, and though so far that’s primarily what you’ve seen, it’s not all we will do in the future. The intent is living world provides us with a story and narrative experience, sort of like your favorite TV show, to constantly update and change the world and provide unique and exciting rewards on a regular basis.

We might have events that occur and came back again with a few modifications in the future. We may have events that occur and then find new homes permanently down the road. We may have bosses from a storyline that continue on forever as guild bounty hunts when a story completes. Living world also allows us the opportunity to upgrade and make parts of our existing game better permanently, a living world narrative could allow us to rebuild and change an existing zone or dungeon, or could destroy one entirely.

Our goal is to get to a point where on a regular basis, the world around you is not only changing in the short term through our normal event system, it’s changing and evolving permanently through our living world releases as well. What you’ve seen so far is primarily some tests and warmup stuff while we in the background organize the company to support this exciting future for our game, the future for living world is filled with endless possibilities.

Enjoy the ride!
