Okay, for those of you who have more than one account, may be able to relate to this.

Tonight I was on one of my alternate accounts, and she had gotten something valuable. So, I took the item and went to mail it to my main account and hit send.

The problem: I was typing too fast, and where as my name is “Jaymee.1560”, as you can see, I typo’d without realizing and hit send, only it was send to just “Jaymeee” No numbers or anything, I doubt it was sent to another player, so basically my husband and I feel that this could be an issue that may be worth submitting a ticket, but I’m not sure.

What do you guys think?

I use to be a Ritualist and a Paragon in my former life…

I think if there is no character/Display name available, you will get an error when trying to send. Did you try adding the Jaymeee name to your friend’s list? Try contacting them if there is such a character/Display Name?

I tried sending this “Jaymeee” an adition messaging, asking: “If this is an actual player, can you please send my item back to me. Thank you.”

When I hit send, it just seemed at if the whole thing just went POOF! Gone. sobs

There is an account using the character name, Jaymeee. You can see who it is by adding the ‘Jaymeee’ name to your friend’s list. I just did, and was given a Display Name. The account seems to be offline at the moment.

Good luck.

It has to mail to something, sorry but it is likely gone. There is even a chance you sent it to a player who doesn’t play the game anymore : /

i think you can send mails to charcters too. so you propably send it to a character named “jaymeee”, which belongs to whoever. you can mail him again and ask for a resend. and/or ask the support. chances are that the account you send it too is inactive.

not sure how “alternate” accounts are handled. im pretty sure, you meant you wanted to send it from your account to your girlfriends, right?

No…? What I mean by “alternate” account is: I own 6 accounts total, I was on one of the accounts that is NOT my main account. I acquired this item and I went to send it to my Main account… and basically you know the rest.

The CS Team is unlikely to get involved; your best bet is to work with the other individual, and hope for a return of the item.

Again, good luck.

I hope the person you sent it to realizes and returns it.

Meanwhile, I never mail anything by typing the name in the mailbox field. Not due to caution, due to laziness. I always find their name in the guild roster or my friends list or in chat, right click and pick “send mail.” I don’t think I’ve ever missed my mail target.

You know what? I think I’ll start doing that instead.

As much as I believe in my heart that there are honest person out there, what I sent was 175 ectoplasm, and let’s face it… the odds of me getting that back by the kind-hearted I might have sent it to by accident? High unlikely.

Gosh I am so tired of screwing things up for myself in this game lately.

This summer have been nothing but one huge disaster for me in this game. I’m seriously wanting to cry.

You might consider sending a message to the Display Name, rather than just the character name. I’m not sure if mail sent to a character name only shows up on that particular character (which might be one seldom used), but sending one to the Display Name would ensure it being seen, no matter which character is played.

Best of luck.

With so many account you should make personal guild with bank. Invite all account and make some guild leader also incase. Some people with personal guild on one accounts sometime acidently leave guild and lose bank. That is why I suggest at least one other account be a leader. Then put valuable item in guild bank for other accounts to have. Then you do not worry about mail mistake.

If the support team can see it’s a player that’s not logged in for some time, you have a shot, i’d say.
If it’s an active account, especially if they’ve already retrieved the sent items, i’d say no hope in hell (unless you can convince them to be kindhearted)

personally, i, ah, i THINK i’d probably return the items. 60-ish gold worth of ectos is quite a lot but not an overwhelming amount. If it was 10x that amount, i’d have a much harder moral dilemma

One way to tell if that’s an active account is to friend that account than after a day or so, check the leaderboards under the list of your friends and see when was the last time he got an achievement point. If it was months ago, he probably isn’t playing. The logon for leaderboards may be bugged right now, but if they do work you can try that.

ANet may give it to you.
