Help Needed - Creating the Ultimate Tank
Engineers can hit some pretty high toughness I have to say. When running flame thrower for fun I usually have the highest toughness of any group, which keeps mobs stuck to me like white on rice. And as long as you make decent use of your dodges, taking elixirs will help you stay alive during the downtime between each endurance refill.
Necro, and the death shroud is not your last chance to cheat death. It’s a weapon. Forget the minions, and trait for your shroud with PVT clothes and HP runes. Use HP foods and find a sigil of generosity for your favorite weapon. Conditions? What conditions?
Senitel should be better than PVT.

I thought sentinel was PVT?

Soldier’s is traditionally P/v/t, whereas Sentinel’s is V/p/t, where the capitalised stat is the primary.
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.
Well, i run a Guardian with knight armour with more than 2k toughness and 100% protection uptime, it works wonders in PvE, i dont usually play WvW.
Build for my Guardian Knight Build
This build have enough toughness and can do enough damage to main maintain the aggro during the encounters
And another thing, you dont really need healing power as a tank guardian, with a low cd healing skill plus the virtue of resolve and the heal on booms applied you survive long enough, the healing power would take the must needed damage, away from a tank.

I’ve been playing a Guardian for the longest time, cookie-cutter bunker build in SPvP and something similar to hurlockbr’s build for PvE/WvW. While I’m not a min-maxer by any mean, nor I’ve ever played a full tank Guardian in Pve/WvW I suppose I know a bit about how the profession works.
With that in mind, my first advice would be not to focus entirely on 3 stats, and I’ll explain why later. Guardians are particularly tanky not for their heavy armor (which doesn’t do much really), not for their HP (smallest HP pool together with Thieves and Elementalists), but for their heals and boons. As such, going PVT on Guardians is, in my opinion, a crime against humanity. What you want is mainly Cleric ( Healing power/tough/power ) with other pieces mixed in, as you definitely need at least 14k-15k HP and some precision to boost up both your damage and your survivability (yes, survivability!).
(I’ll edit this post later as the subject requires a well thought out post and I’m in a bit of a hurry)
