I logged on for the first time in 2 years and I’m overwhelmed. I’ve gotten like 10 different chests which have given me like 100 different items none of which I really know what they do. My inventory is chock full of stuff that I don’t know the value of.

All I really want to do is sPvP/WvWvW and improve my exalted gear to ascended. I’ve read a couple of different websites and it seems very complex to get though.

Anyone have any information or links on what I should be doing? I’m just looking for what I can do each day to maximize my “rewards” so that I can be a better sPvP and WvWvW player.. I can’t play 12 hours/day like I use to so dailies and such are also very welcome.

Ascended is an extremely long and dedicated thing to get – I would dismiss the idea of getting it at this stage, it is completely unneccessary and the vast majority of players wont have a complete set anyway. To maximise your rewards to get Ascended will require intense grind or months of casual play in the level 80 pve zones. Plus ensuring you get every day’s login rewards (there are some ascended mats in the cycle)

Too much has changed/added/removed in over 2 years, but Id prob sell all the stuff you arent sure of or ditch it into a bank. I can’t imagine it’s actually that much stuff being given to you, beyond some birthday stuff.

What else is there to work towards then, if not ascended gear?

I don’t mind if it takes months to get a weapon or something. I’m just looking for some kind of progression that will help me out in WvWvW.

If you don’t mind it taking months, then that’s all good.

Your options;

- Dailies = laurels. Use them to buy ascended trinkets at the laurel vendor (Id advise using the wvw one)

- Silverwastes – the current high end pve farming and events area. Mats drop like no tomorrow along with champ chests

- Fractals. Higher end fractals will drop ascended

- Spvp. I believe ascended can drop from the chests there. I dont pvp so can’t confirm, but Im pretty certain this true. I believe WvW has the same chance

- Crafting. You will need mats from PVE farming, champ chests, jumping puzzles, dailies etc etc. Weapons are easier to craft than armour

- Tequatl has a rare chance to drop Ascended weapons

Also, in terms of WVW progression, you have wvw skills/traits you can invest into now.

Press B and check the ranks and abilities tab

Nice, just found the WvWvW laurel vender. Looks like its gonna take me a while to get them!

So if that’s the best way to get ascended jewelry, I’m assuming that either lucky drops or crafting are the only way to get weapons/armor?

You should find a guild to do guild missions with for your ascended trinkets. Rings from fractals, and amulet from daily laurels. Crafting is the only way to get ascended weapons and armor other than getting randomly lucky. You have to max out a crafting discipline to make the ascended armor associated with it.

You can get rings from Fractals (they cost 10 Pristine Relics which you get for completing Fractals or they drop at level 11+ but that’s random and you need AR for those).

You can get Trinkets easily by completing guild missions. You need 12 Guild Commendations per trinket.

Back pieces can either be crafted or made in the mystic forge (you can check the wiki for the recipes). Otherwise for armour/weapons I find it’s more reliable to craft them.
