Guild Wars 2

My main is a Thief and eventhough i love the gameplay, i realise they are not the best class for PVE at the moment.
My thief will stay my main, but i would like to play something i can fall back on in case the thief is not good enough for a certain content.

Also, i would like to go for something a little different, thus i was thiking of going for a condi build (maybe).
My main occupation in GW2 are fractals 30-50 atm, world events and raids.
I would like to be desirable / helpful.

Which class do you think would be good?
Are Necro good for condi ?
How complex are Mesmers and engineers to play well ?
Which is your main and why ?

I switched to DnT’s condi Engi build for doing the HoT story and it was fun. There’s a higher cost compared to other armor spec’s as viper armor is more expensive.

For a condi build, try a Berserker Warrior. Their burn damage is insane. Alternatively, you can’t go wrong with a good old fashioned condi necro, some of the best DoT spread and uptimes in the game.

Mesmers only condition is really confusion, and their uptime is so low its basically impossible to function as well as anything else.

Very few people are trying condi builds on Revenant using Mallyx, but it has some good Torment potential. That said, I don’t know how well it stacks up to other condition based professions, but you could always try it out.

Threads like this should serve as a big screen communicating, “This class is underpowered do something!”

With a thief I managed to solo LS 2 chapter 8’s timed mission without exploiting (there aren’t any). I had to bring in fire elemental powder and am starting on the keep the turret standing achievement in HoT. If thief can’t do it then I’ll work on my guardian’s hero points for dragon hunter then attempt with him. He’s half crusader half marauder in stats with some LS 2 achievement jewelry (condition damage, power, and precision) so his burning can have meaningful damage though isn’t a dedicated burn guardian. He runs staff in case he runs into an event with many mobs + swiftness and greatsword, sometimes switching to sword and shield for more versatile play.

Actually, just go dragon hunter, you have heavy armor, good range, good heals, shadow step with sword and shield, and group stability.
