Help me pick my Sylvari colours? :)
I could say which one I’d choose, my that’d be my choice, not yours.
Instead, I’ll say this: when in doubt, roll dice. If you don’t want to follow the result of the throw, you’ve narrowed your selection, and if you’re happy with it, great, you’re done.
I wasn’t necessarily asking for your choice and to take that as my choice. I was looking for a general idea of which is the nicest colour combination/least common one is.
I knew I’d get that kind of comment :> I already had reds/oranges/teal/white and I’ve narrowed it down to this. As soon as I pick blue and get to the naming part, I look at the character and think, maybe pink would be nice. I then do the same with pink and then I’m unsure whether to go through with pink.
I guess I’ll just have to roll a dice. But that’s not really my choice either
Or I’ll just have to make each one of them and run round on each until I decide on one. :/
Most sylvari I’ve seen tend to be in the blue/green spectrum, followed by rose tones. Haven’t seen too many dark brown ones, so that’d be the most “unusual” (of course that’s only what I’ve seen, there might have been dozens always hiding behind my back, so I couldn’t see’em)
@ Yamialexa
Yeah, I’ve seen lots of blue/greens too tbh. I was going to go with my blue one but then I was rooting through pictures of Sylvari on google and found a Sylvari that looked IDENTICAL to my blue one. I was then really put off the blue one
I’m asking about how unusual colours are because I like my characters to look as “special” and unusual as possible. I don’t like it when I run round and find someone else that looks the same as me I guess I just like my characters to be recognisable as my own. Because when I see a similar/identical one, it just doesn’t feel like my own.
I think I’ll tweak my brown one a bit and see if I really dig that one then. If not, I might go with the rose/green one.
I’m not sure how much help you’ll find anything I have to say since the dice trick is all I was about to say and I went about my character gen differently than you have. I started with a name I loved and then created a character look that suited it.
My two sylvari are dark green → teal and dark blue → purple.
I really like your autumn and summer ones.
Keep in mind that there’s always the total makeover kit as an option if you don’t like it or want to change. Which has even more hairstyles/colour options to choose from (because I’m evil >=D )
Of the four in the pic the two on the left feel like they have the better color synergy (to me).
I see ones like the two on the right all the time, and mostly/all white is also popular.
I don’t see much in the way of darker colors except for like all black with all abyss gear (don’t get the appeal of a formless black blob with a sword they end up looking like, but thats just IMO)
The Autumn one you have there looks pretty good, not something I can say I’ve seen much of. I’d suggest looking to see what armor might fit that theme and see how it dyes.
For me I wanted to do something in darker tones, I wanted to shoot for something more unique looking and fitting the name Bramble, and ended up with a more purple/green theme (and had no idea what the glow was so got super lucky my glow color matched!) and then went with a purple/blue dye scheme (with red tips on the barbs

I find your Autumn most striking. The others look much more “typical.” But then I tend to like darker tones; my first sylvari was (and is) dark brown with cream mottling and white leaves with a yellow glow. I like your Autumn also for how she looks sweet and kind even with the branches on her head; usually people go for crueler faces if they’re doing Faolain style hair.
I suggest you let her armor colors contrast here and there. Maybe shade the ends towards pink or any pastel. I find I like my sylvari armor best when it seems to be a flower
I like your Winter one, mosly because I feel she’s the one whom better feels the season she represents.
Autumn looks more like Summer to me, while the original Summer and Spring don’t feel seasonal at all.
Edit
Since I uninstalled, can you check for me if Male Sylvari got longer leaves or they’re stuck with that poor selection they had until a year ago or so?

OP: Personally I would choose a combination that matches/compliments the weapons you plan on using at 80. Armour is easy because you can dye that any colour you want, but weapons are far more limiting. Perhaps there is a particular skin/set that you really like and want to use? Perhaps there is a mystic forge “pseudo-legendary” that looks really neat and you dream to have?
@Crimson Clouds: Thank you, kinda annoyed it comes up to gems to get a decent hairstyle, but at least there’s a chance to get it. If I’ll ever re-install I may end up going for it, there are a couple of very nice ones.
