Help with Info: Want to Comeback to GW2
Nope. But if your whole reason for logging in was to do the dailies, I’m not sure why you’d want to play anyway.
The daily rewards have been changed so that just logging in, you get better rewards than you did doing the daily before. The new dailies, if you don’t care about achievement points, can be completely ignored.
Seems to me, if you enjoyed doing dailies before, which was doing what you like, why not just log in, get your log in reward and do what you like anyway?
Well we are not raiders, And we have already played 2-3 of characters to top level. So getting on and doing the dailys seemed a fun way to continue with the game with our topped out characters versus leveling another.
Thats why the loss of the dailys meant so much for us as the game seemed at end game for us as we did not want to raid.
Thoughts?
Have they added more content or opened cap to allow for more questing for prior topped out characters? Will the expansion allow for that?

My thoughts are there aren’t any raids (unless you’re talking about Teq and Triple Wurm which are both optional) so this is really a non issue?

Expansion is adding masteries, new maps, adventures (think repeatable hearts) expanding fractal levels (and hopefully adding some new fractals!), adding new specialisations and the ability to use new weapons for classes and other stuff. Check out the blog posts on the site for details of what’s coming. You’ll probably need to go back quite a few pages to get the details – https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/

There is so much stuff to do besides dailies and “raiding” in this game, though technically the game doesn’t have raids.
There is the world boss train, which requires almost no effort whatsoever except going to a site to look at the timer. Guaranteed rares for everyone. There’s zone completion for a chance for a black lion key. There’s chest runs in the silverwaste.
The dailies before were just killing X or gathering Y. First of all, you could do the gathering dailies on the days they have them now, because the reward for doing that now, even if you don’t do anything else, is well worth it, Plenty of mats.
There are skins to collect, there’s crafting to do, there’s gathering.
If you and your friend came in and said we’re going to make our own daily. Today we’re going to just gather in this zone, and get all the softwood you can get and iron, well, that stuff is selling pretty well right now. You’d make far more doing that than you ever did doing a daily.
There are still jumping puzzles, still dynamic events, including some rare and hidden ones. There are other achievements besides dailies to work on as well, slayer and weapon master and other things.
I’ve been playing this game with friends since launch and we play almost every day, but we almost never worry about the daily, except the gathering daily which we always do.
There are even cooperative PvP rooms set up by guilds right now, just to do the dailies cooperatively, which is a fun way to do them as well.
tldr; The dailies themselves weren’t special, they just gave you a road map. You can make your own road map and play the game and have fun.
Thanks all for your responses….Honestly we enjoyed the game and doing dailies as the start of our gaming day on GW2 especially with topped out characters. Maybe we need to reup for one month and try GW2 again with a different perspective of daily actions…..
Again thanks for the replies!
If you enjoyed doing dailies in one zone than just do Silverwastes. Not only theres plenty to grind but you will come out rich.
After change i just do sPVP dailies for the Glorious set and PVP achievpoints.

I find the whole daily thing quite interesting. I think GW2 does it better than most games, but im surprised how many people only logged in for the old style dailies/monthlies
Thats not a dig at anyone and only Anet have metrics to say if it impacted the game when it changed, but i think there is evidence that dailys are a more important part of MMO gaming than many think.

Not sure if I understand your “reup for one month” statement. Reup is usually associated with renewing a subscription, but GW2 does not have a subscription. You don’t need to set a Monthly time limit, just log in and play for as long as you want.
From all the responses, I get the feeling the OP has this game confused with some other game.
There is no need to ‘reup’, as there is no cost or subscription to continue playing.
There are no raids. There are no ‘quests’, unless OP is referring to the Personal Story or maybe Renown Hearts?
There will be more story in the expansion, as well as the past Living Story Season Two available (at a cost).
The whole game is available to a ‘capped’ L80 character including the new maps added.
Regardless, OP and friend(s) can (at no cost) just jump back in and play any part of the game to try out or see what’s available.
If that is the decision chosen, welcome return!
Thanks all “my re-up” comment was that I believe I remember that if you paid a subscription like monthly you got some valuable benefits….being a person who loves gaming I always wanted to be a paying patron to get the best benefits.
Thanks,
Don
And also to justify paying for the new expansion cost X2 coming out.

There is no such thing. You can buy gems but the number you buy isn’t fixed you buy just enough to get what you want from the gem store.
I’m confused by the OP as well. Having 3 level 80 character’s, but being upset at the “area specific” dailies? A level 80 character should have no trouble going to any area of the game… But to each their own.
The whole reason they made the dailies area specific is to increase player traffic to other areas of the game. Otherwise everyone just goes to Queensdale for everything, and the rest of the game seems dead. It was a vital change to the health of the game and community.

That exists in many MMO’s but never in GW2, (unless the China release received something like it)

Am sorry, but dailies exclusively ? My recommendation is to try tetris or solitaire or online chess, something like that. This may come off harsh, but this is an MMORPG, and from what you say, you are completely missing the whole points of playing an MMORPG.
the biggest point of MMORPG is to progress, either horizontal or vertical while being in a part of a good community. Guilds, WvW, etc. the bigger and more people you play with, the better.
If you want story games look at stuff like Witcher 3, Dragon Age Inquisition, Mass Effect, many others. The living story in GW2 absolutely pales in comparison and can’t come even remotely close to those. And they are more casual as you can save them and quit and return at any time.
you can also look at FPS games if you are both ok with combat, less gear, less achieves etc. and are overall better to frequantly log off / on.
