Prompted by but not continuing the main discussion in another thread, this may help a number of people:

Hair and Makeover Kits don’t have to leave the bank to be used. I discovered this at some point and now I don’t absentmindedly leave them on an alt and then forget who has them. You can right click on the kit and use it; if you finalize your changes, the kit will be consumed straight out of the bank (if it’s not a Permanent one, of course).

For some reason this doesn’t work on boosters unless that’s been changed and I’ve just been hauling them out by habit, heh.

Wow, thank you so much for pointing this out to me. I received an email from the support team, they are restoring the deleted character who was holding the Perma-Kit.

Thank you SO very much, ArenaNet for giving this back to me. It’s a shame but very true, yet… when it comes to an item such as the Permanent Hair-Styling Kit being deleted, I doubt that falls under the definition of an “accident”, catastrophic seems more like a more suitable description.

Seems so silly to be so stressed out over something that isn’t even a tangible thing, but after waiting for years before getting one, and considering their price value…?

But glad you managed to find a save way – which wasn’t that secret Oo

I guarantee that if I ever get a perma hair kit it’s going in a shared slot. I have a lot of alts that I’d love to be able to change hair for on a whim or to work better with various armors and outfits.

As it is I keep my little stash of kits in my first bank tab and head to a crafting station when I want to review possible looks.
