Like it or not, the grind is a major part of playing GW1 and GW2 albeit with a change of format. I’ve taken to alternating one game with the other while my [Signet of Patience] is on CD.

How about making Heroes and Henchies unlockable in GW2? I’d even pay for a gem store hero.

There’s plenty of precedent for this, as any player of Star Trek Online ( STO ) knows. It would make leveling without traits less painful and make the grind a bit smoother.

Rest In Pepperonis Koss Boss </3

While I share your desire for heroes again OP, this game no longer supports the hench/hero model.

Having a Hero in this game would be like having Trahearne to fight beside you in the dungeons and open world.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

Would that really be a bad thing? Granted, Trahearne can be more of a liability than an asset. Henchie/hero management is an interesting mini game in itself.

Although I am personally completely against the idea of using henchmen/heroes in GW2, here’s a page from the GW2 wiki you might find interesting.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Companion

Evidently they were at one point planning to implement a companion system, where you could have a companion follow you around and possibly replace henchmen/heroes. However, this idea was scrapped because the player classes are self-sufficient enough that they wouldn’t need a companion in order to flourish in the game.

Would these heroes count toward the player numbers in the map? Would people bring them to Teq and triple trouble, possibly taking up a spot for other players and causing champions to spawn in the defense sites or increased numbers of regular mobs to spawn but then the heroes die because they don’t dodge the aoe fields? If they are in addition to players, will they be adding to the general overall particle effects and lag from your computer having to render all the extra heroes in your area?

Be careful what you ask for

In present GW2, there’s not a whole lot of times I’ve thought to myself in PvE “Man! This sure would be a lot easier with a companion!”. I do believe that beyond HoT we’ll probably see a return of the companion system. I’d love to be able to outfit an NPC with a build/gear that compliments my own to run around with.

I can see maybe having heroes or henchmen in story mode for a dungeon for those that like lore or don’t want to have to deal with all the zerker gear meta builds out there but not for anything else

Ummm, sorry but I just have to say that if you think levelling in this game is a grind that I think you are doing it wrong….

If you are trying to level up how you do in most other games by killing mobs for their exp, that is just doing it wrong. You need to explore the maps, complete them or just stick to doing events all over. You can of course level up quicker by crafting etc but that’s not even really needed. Completing just 1 map a day gets you to 80 in a matter of 2 weeks. Well at least it has for me every time I have sent a new alt through world complete…

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?

one map a day you must be joking i find it more easy to do 3 maps a day if iam trying to do them . just saying . and the point is not about leveling at all or any thing like that . what it is about is having a party full of heroes . that have max armor and skills set,s that help you go where ever you like in pve or dungeons with out the need or help of real people at all . umm not sorry just saying the truth about this topic

Everyone plays at their own pace. I suggest 1 map per day for most people as most people are casuals. I have done world complete 10 times now at just 1 map a day on and off over the last 3 years but either way that’s all besides the point. My point was the OP was suggesting heros for some reason because he believes there is grind. Actually I am not sure why he even mentioned grind or henchies at all it’s either one subject or the other, I really don’t see how they even have anything to do with one another.

But as to the subject of henchies or companions I never said I was against them at all. In fact I didn’t even comment on them. I wouldn’t mind if they brought in perhaps ONE companion type thing. If anything it could be more for fun or variety and a new sense of progression. But I would limit it to only one.

“umm not sorry just saying the truth about this topic”. Funny do you always consider one person’s (yours) opinion as “truth”? I think you may need to look up the meaning of the word tbh.
