One of the original concepts behind GW2 was to change the nature of the MMO and get away from the “grind”. One remaining artifact of that system is the need to Harvest, Log and Mine to obtain resources to develop weapons (and of course vast amounts are needed for Legendary weapons). While I wouldn’t propose bringing an end to farming, it would be nice to see players engage in the heart unlocks in the areas you have previously developed. One thought I had would be to have a secondary heart unlock for each area that would provide resources for completing the area. For instance if the resource nodes in an area would typically provide say x carrots, x green logs, and x copper then have that as the payout. The payout would represent tribute paid to the hero for protecting the area. It would also fall in line with what we would come to expect as tribute from villages for warriors or heroes coming to their rescue. They don’t offer copper and gold, they give you potatoes. It would be even better if the Guild could be layered in with this concept. As the hearts stack up there is a reward which could either be added or replace the resource nodes in Guild Halls. I understand this is not very well fleshed out and I have NO idea what would be involved with the programming. However, I think it would bring life back to old maps that have become relatively unutilized except for the occasional mega event or people whisking by you to go hack down a tree while ignoring the beasts that are attacking their back side while they look to the next node on their mini-map. You put a lot of work into the game. Players should continue to appreciate the content.

Thanks

I’m not sure how this puts an end to “farming” — it just changes “find these sorts of nodes, press ‘f’” to “find these sorts of foes, press ‘1’”.

Grinding in this game is largely only important for shinies & achievements — it’s possible to play the game without overtly focusing on acquiring particular items. It’s not perfect in this game (far from it), but I feel very little pressure to do the same things over & over again. (Well, aside from the pressure I put on myself to finish somehting.)

I believe the Devs stated it wasn’t feasible to change the Core Renown Hearts into repeatable Renown Hearts due to the old code.

I think the Devs already did something akin to this with Map Event Rewards.

Good luck.
