Hey Asura, Charr style me up
I agree with you, but also will disagree when saying the game has a lot of options for Sylvari-looking armour.
Personally, I feel that Sylvari are the biggest losers here as there are very few armours that have a natural theme, or look even remotely leafy or flowery.
At least there are dungeon armours that fit all of these “problem” races:
-CoF for Charr
-TA for Sylvari
-CoE for Asura
And then there’s the 3 cultural armours for each armour weight.
So, if you want to look “totally” Charr, Asura or Sylvari there are 4 sets of armour to choose from and to mix and match, which is ok but I’d agree that we need more. I also use the Cook’s outfit as they are culturally specific, and I’ll also buy the Wedding outfit when it’s released for the same reasons.
A good work around is to use some parts of the standard armours, but then use “highlights” from dungeon or cultural armours. This works particularly well with asura T3 light or heavy shoulders, for example.
On another note, if you want an “asuran” looking Norn, I would recommend the Magitech armour from the gemstore along with the CoE dungeon armour. Use glyphic/mystic/dark asuran/inquest weapons too.
And then there’s the 3 cultural armours for each armour weight.
Except for Charr T3 Light cultural armor. Here we have an armor set that can only be worn by charr, and it looks like it was designed for humans. Tail clips, stretching is evident, heck, even some of the claws clip through the shoes.

Sadly true. Pretty sure those designs were done before it was decided Charr would idle-run on all fours. Because no quadruped would wear a friggin’ skirt for their claws to snag on mid-gait. It was epically difficult to find pants for my non-medium characters.

I’ll give you the “tail-clipping” point, considering that design-wise it’s easy to get around this by adding a flap (as seen in both T1 and T2 light). T3 armour doesn’t have any coverings around the charr toes, so I can’t see how the claws would clip. Stretching is present on any character that is taller and has a wider frame than what would be considered “standard”- this does annoy me, because all it would take would be some slightly higher resolution textures to solve this.
That all being said though, I wouldn’t be surprised if all armours were originally designed on a human base and then tweaked for other races. We know that originally, all races had “access” to other races’ cultural armours.
