Hey is there a storyline to Fractals?
Each fractal has a story associated with it. Essentially they are time jumps and/or alternate timelines that are relived through the fractal lab or something.
I’m sure the wiki explains it better than I do.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
There is a story for every fractal.
There’s a fractal origin story as well.
They aren’t sequential or anything, if that’s the main question. Each one tells an abridged or alternate story of events throughout Tyria, both in space and time.
Think of Fractals as GW2’s equivalent of a multi-verse theory.
You’ll see stuff from its past, you might also see stuff that isn’t, you will also see things that are just weird. The story of Dessa and her crew is in there, but aside from that there’s not a big story connecting Fractal to Fractal.
Once apon a time there were no fractals……the the big bad patch came….and it gave us fractals. That’s about it.
Yes there is a storyline!

There is more about the existance and how the mists work. There are connections to gw1 uw and riss.
Actually it’s too much lore connected to it for me to sum it up right. You should look it all up or maybe someone else can explain it all well.

You should probably do some investigating, as there are indeed stories surrounding each one.

Yes, but some of the fractals are more fleshed out storyline wise than others, you can look up the wiki if you want some more insight
Each stage has each own story. But there is a story for Mistlock Observatory, kind of.
If you notice, Dessa and her screws are actually stucked in the Mist and everytime we leave it, their memory and everything is resetted (kinda like the movie 50 First Dates).
For example,
-she doesn’t remember who you are
-she doesn’t know what is Sylvari (if you talk to her as a Sylvari, she has a different dialogue)
-she doesn’t know the Aetherblades (she thought the Inquests are interracial now)
-during the Living Story, when Kiel told her to follow her outside, she got ported back when she touched the gate and her memory was resetted.
It’s kind of sad if you think about it actually

The Mists is alive I tell you, and it’s creating all these fractals from the memories of those lost in it. Beware jumping in one of them “Asura gates”, you never know, something might go wrong and you will end up inbetween the worlds and realities.
