Is there a way to disable the PvP league/division icons next to other player’s names?
I haven’t seen the option, and I would like to be able to.
I’m sure they don’t bother many people, but to be honest, I don’t really care what division other players are in, less so when I’m just doing PvE.
And in places where there are lots of players, screen was already cluttered with names before before adding extra symbols like mastery levels and divisions.
There is an option to hide other players’ names, so why not an option to just hide division icons?

I know it’s a very little thing, and there are more important things to fix and work on. But it’s just an option that wouldn’t hurt anyone either.

I’ve heard of other people asking the same question as well, and I’m in the same boat. I’m fairly new, so pardon me if this is already an option, but is there a way to hide enemy pet names is WvW? If not, add it to the list also. It’s fairly obnoxious to have to read “Platinum kitten Lieutenant General Deputy x 40”, then read a sea of names for their pets in a 40 vs. 40 battle. It’s much worse than the spell effects could ever be, and there’s options for those.

I know I can disable names on both sides, but I feel I should have options to lesson the clutter somewhat without completely removing everything. Maybe I do and I’m just inexpereinced. Not sure.

Sorry if bumping a week old post is a necro. The layout of these forums is either a mess, or I just don’t understand it quite yet.

Please remove them from PvE or make them toggleable, tired of seeing I, II, III, IV, etc everywhere like I’m in a roman army or something.

ArenaNet logic: nerf visual effects because of clutter, but add more static clutter with unecessary icons.

Naw, ANet won’t remove them. They’re mobile billboards for PvP. That’s a gameplay they’re actively promoting right now.

Count your blessings. They could have set them to sparkle and flash on and off.

Yeah the PvP icons are big advertising for Anet, everywhere u go u will see someone with a PvP icon, and the newbies goes like “woaaahh what is that shiny thingy, oo daym they got ranks in pvp imma try that chit out later!”. It’s kinda funny cuz in some content u cant see the mastery lvl, but who cares about that.

I thought it was a display bug and turned off the names.

I think they are consistent with displaying ‘ranks’ for each game mode:

• Mastery points display in PvE.
• WvW rank displays while in WvW
• PvP ranks displays …erm all the time, not just in PvP

So yeah, how about changing it so it only displays while in PvP, just like the other ranks.

Turn off player names so they only show when you press the button – its alt or control?

Alt is the button to show green names. I use it when looking for specific NPCs. If you toggle off NPC names (and thus need alt to see them), friendly pets only show names if you press Alt. I don’t know if there’s a way to not see enemy pet names. Personally, if I was worried about being attacked, I’d want that nice red string of letters over the head of anything that could jump on me.
