Please, Arenanet, can’t you add a toggle off option for the outfit’s pauldrons ?
Everytime I see a really nice outfit, that is ruined by those awfully large pauldrons, I cringe. Can’t you at least add an option to toggle off the pauldrons ?
I’m sure I’m not the only person who’d rather not buy an outfit at all rather than having to see my character running around with pauldrons the size of his head (or even bigger, if you play with a male Sylvari, they’re often oversized).
EDIT : It’s NOT a thread to complain about outfits not being 6 part armors. It’s just about asking for a hide option for the shoulder parts.
please! outfits would be sooo much better then. and… I think most of outfits are made with that (hiding pauldrons) taken in consideration (except… noble one). So I think that could easily be implemented.
Furthermore… could helms and pauldrons of outfits be put into wardrobe as separate helm and pauldrons skins?
Didn’t know people hated the shoulders.
For me the shoulders are the only good part, but since it’s an outfit and I can’t wear only the shoulders it’s useless to me.

Windu The Forbidden One > Well, it’s not that I hate the shoulders, for that one at least. It’s just that I think they’re too big to fit with this outfit, and looks totally out of place. So, yeah, I wish I could hide them, that would definitively make me buy the outfit.
(But I also think those shoulders alone could be a good thing if they existed as a single piece of armor, on a heavy class for example.)
The outfit looks incredible—except for the pauldrons. Oh my goodness those giant fan looking pieces are absolutely a deal breaker for me. If we can hide the pauldrons, I’d purchase the outfit.
And what about selling a version of the outfit without the pauldrons, along with the normal one? If creating a second “hide” option for outfits is too complicated for some reason, I mean.
Honestly, I’d like to know why they don’t put a toggle off option, and if they can’t, why they keep making gigantic pauldrons for outfits. The Bloody Prince’s, Ceremonial Plated, Shadow Assassin (maybe only for Sylvari, though), Hexed/Witch and Mad Thorn’s male outfits have the same problem.
They should just convert all these outfit-things in armors… so people could mix and match again.

Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.
I really don’t like having things all stuck together and not usable as parts.
But despite that, I really like this outfit, I’d buy and use it in a heartbeat… if I could use it without the fans. They’re not bad, but they’re not what I want more often than not.
As is, not even gonna consider buying this knowing they’re stuck on there.
and exactly thats why i always “whine” when another outfit comes out. SELL A SODDING SKIN PACK OF IT TOO. So that people who dont like the whole look can hide parts\use parts on other looks or pimp out the outfit with parts they enjoy. But whatever…
I would lovingly appreciate if I could toggle the shoulder pieces on my outfits. There are many outfits where they are simply too big or clip too much for my tastes.

I saw there was a new outfit incoming.
And of course, again, there’s some giant shoulderpads I can’t hide.
Arenanet, please. You make such nice outfits, but most of the times, the pauldrons are just too much.
Seriously, I’ve wanted the ability to turn off shoulders for outfits for a while now. The Shadow Assassin pauldrons are especially hideous on male characters, but I gotta say, the crystal shoulders for the Nomad outfit? They need to GO!
I started thinking I was crazy because I thought we were talking about regular armor and I was positive we have that feature. I kept reading each comment waiting for someone to say, “Uhm, you can totally do that already duh.” I see now we are talking about outfits.
Of course I would always like to have actual armor skins more then outfits, but I don’t mind them too much. They look mostly good too.
However the Nomad-look takes it a big step too far. Pauldrons have always been a problem (is it some sort of fantasy trope to make them as big, unpractical and ugly as possible?) but those crystals more or less ruin it.
I love the rest but being unable to hide them makes me not want to buy it. It is just too much and I am sure that some crystal-decorations can be applied in a more simple and practical looking way.
Signed! Especially since the toggle is there for regular armor, and we already have a toggle for helmet. It would be really nice to get the same toggle for outfits.
I understand some of the outfits may have unfinished texture that is hidden under the shoulders, but the nomad outfit for instance doesn’t seem like it, so toggling the crystals on and off seems like it should be doable?
Yeeees pretty please, even if we don’t get to wear the outfits as separate armor skins, at least let us be able to hide the shoulders like we can hide the helmet. It would be GREATLY appreciated!

I would love if they allowed us to use our regular head skin when the outfit head is hidden. Same for Shoulders and everything else, this would allow players to mix/max outfits very well, just hide which parts of the outfit you don’t want and bam your “regular” pieces will appear.
Of course that wouldn’t allow combining two outfits yet but it’s a good start for more skin variety
Pretty sure you guys can hide outfit shoulders. All you have to do is go into your normal equipment page and uncheck the shoulders and it should hide the outfit shoulders. Reason I say this is because I use the cooks outfit for my charr engi and I can hid the helm and gloves on the outfit.
The cook’s outfit may be a special case as it was originally a multi piece set of town clothes. I’ll have to check if hiding things works on it as you say, though, because I’d love to ditch the sylvari version’s club hand.
The newer outfits are designed in one piece as a mask over the underlying armor. I’m pretty sure it would take them some redesign work and tricky coding changes to implement a shoulder toggle on outfits.
I really wish they would, though. While I do like the fans on the female imperial, and the shadow assassin shoulders work well on my female charr elementalist, for the most part I’ve found the shoulders detract from the overall look. It’s a bit boggling how the artists can do so much so well and then slap these horribly out of place shoulders on outfit after outfit.
I know that pretty much everyone I hear talking about the outfits is displeased with the shoulders and putting up with them for the sake of the rest of the look. Don’t you want your players to be 100% satisfied with what you make, ANet? A shoulder toggle would allow so many more people to be happy with the outfits.
While I’m not sure if it’d be possible to disable the shoulders on the other outfits, they should at the very least let us disable the floating crystal shoulders on the crystal nomad outfit. On the other outfits, the shoulders are a part of the model, but in the case of the crystal nomad outfit the shoulders are floating. It shouldn’t take that much effort to get rid of those…

That only works for some outfits, not all of them unfortunately.
The crystal nomad shoulders frustrate me a lot, because I’ve wanted an outfit exactly like that one for a while, and when they finally made one, they decided they had to stick gigantic crystals all over it. I’m not sure I’ll even buy it now. It’s the same reason I haven’t sprung for the Imperial. Just looking at the shoulders makes me wince.

shoulders ruin the look of a lot of stuff…Imperial Outfit is a great example (and why me and my GF will not purchase one at this time.)
I think you can hide shoulders on outfits by going into your armor and toggling hide armor check box. That’s how I hide the head pieces on most outfits that have them cause I find them to be quite ugly.

I’m afraid you can’t toggle off shoulders on outfits. You can only toggle off headpieces and, in the case of older outfits, gloves. The old town clothes system didn’t have a shoulder slot, so that might be why, but most of the outfits also have built in shoulders, so they can’t really be removed.
In the case of the crystal nomad outfit though, the shoulders are explicitly floating, so it should be fully possible to toggle them off. Should, but probably isn’t. I hope they make it possible though.

Yes please please please please.
Most of the outfits would be so nice without these ugly giant shoulders. I beg you to add this option.
Between the floating crystal (… Srly, floating crystal ? This outfit look great and BAM floating crystals everywhere ! WHY) and the gigantic fans… :<
