Call the mythbuster! Does higher level fotm really give better loot? Im talking about bosses chest, and monsters drop. I know the only better drop from mobs are essence/glob/shards to upgrade rings, thats for no doubt a better drop. But thats it! For the exception of the daily chest and upgrade mats, the drops from mobs/chests are exactly the same, there are no higher chances of getting rares/exotics. I have run fotm lvl 30+ without getting a single rare and i had no DR, while i have run lvl 10+ getting 5-6 rares on average.
If there are higher chances of rares/exotic, i guess they increase at rates of 0.0000001% per level.

You’re getting drops at your personal reward level no matter what level you’re running… so the 5-6 rare runs are just you being lucky and the 0, unlucky. You’ve been seeing your personal drop rate get better on average very gradually, but nothing eliminates RNG.

On the daily reward chests, though, there’s a very clear delineation of “better” loot as you go higher:

1 1-9 20 None
2 10-19 Ascended Ring (non-Infused), Pristine Fractal Relic
3 20-25 Ascended Ring (non-Infused), Ascended Ring (Infused), Fractal Weapon, Pristine Fractal Relic
4 26-39 Ascended Ring (Infused), Fractal Weapon, Pristine Fractal Relic
5 40-49 Ascended Ring (Infused), Fractal Weapon, Pristine Fractal Relic
6 50-59 Ascended Ring (Infused), Fractal Weapon, Pristine Fractal Relic

I know im level 32 running lvl 30, 26 and 10 so i should be getting rewarded for lvl 30 26 and 10, for a good time already over 250 fractals they all seem to have the same drop rates for the exception of daily chest and essences/globs/shards.

According to the designers, you have a better chance of getting better loot at higher fractals.

According to my experience and some other’s experiences, the increased risk/duration is not worth the reward. I seem to get better loot running a level 10 daily than a level 26 daily.

DR supposedly does not affect FOTM either. Drops really seem to have gotten worse post 1/28 update.

Oh.. and at higher fractals the only thing anyone really cares about dropping from a daily chest is the fractal skin. Even if you get lucky and have one drop, you have to get lucky and have it be one you want. By the time you reach higher level fractals, you have way too many rings anyways and pristine relics are currently useless.

Achieving a higher level means you can get more than one chest per day, you get more relics per fractal completed and probably best of all, you can get a truly staggering amount of karma by being a high level player and then doing a low level run.

I sure hope drop rates are better, else what’s the point of climbing up difficulty levels and getting better team comps?
High difficulty should always come with better rewards.

Hope the difficulty system will be expanded to other dungeons btw, with unique rewards/skins.
After a while even if fractals are 9 places, it gets a bit repetitive to see always the same zones.

That, or new fractals need to be added.
How about a Fractal in the Crystal Desert? I miss that place so much… Hydras :o

I’ve ran 40+ quite a few times and it’s better loot chance for sure. Instead of sometimes getting rares, I have gotten 1 exotic every other run.

If it’s better, it’s not enough better to justify it taking 20 minutes to kill bosses.

I’ve never really noticed any difference in loot quality period. I guess I get more stuff from a 30 fractal than a 10 fractal, but just from the trash and only because there’s outright more trash and thus more loot. As for the chests, haven’t noticed anything.

False.

In terms of “better” loot, the only thing better is that you get guaranteed infused rings instead of normal rings and “better” chances at fractal skins. Other than that, nope. You are better off doing a sub 20 fractal, usually something in the ~10 range, and doing it faster than a 30-50.

The drops used to be better, and even though ANet says they didn’t nerf drops in fractals…they did something to them, as I went from an average of ~3g per run to less than 1g(mostly just blues/greens, maybe once a week I get a run with 6+ rares; makes zero sense).

theres more stuff to kill in higher levels… so while the drop rates dont increase, you have more chances at getting something cuz you have more things to kill

ive been seeing exotics drop fairly commonly (usually 1/run for the whole party) from fractal end chests at 20-26, while maybe 1 exotic / 5-10 runs for the whole party seems like the rate at < level 10

I’ve just made 3 runs on my guardian.
Level 28
I got 1 rare from dungeon and 1 rare from putting greens into MF.
Using Black Lion Salvage Kit I got 0 globes from them.
Level 16
I got 1 rare from dungeon and 0 rares from putting greens into MF.
Using Black Lion Salvage Kit I got 1 glob from this one.
Level 2
I got 2 rares from dungeon and 1 rare from putting greens into MF.
Using Black Lion Salvage Kit I got 1 glob from them.

So is this really a point in doing higher lvls, where much more effort and time is needed and you get worse rewards than on earlier levels? Guess not.

3 runs….really? That’s like saying there aren’t better drops in Explorable modes, because you ran a story mode and got something better. You’d need to do dozens if not hundreds of runs for anything conclusive. It’s like baseball.

Any team can beat any team on a given day but the odds change over a longer series.
