I don’t care about all the nitty gritty numbers, and the mights, and the stacks. I have every single prof at level 50 and i’m just wondering which to put the time into to hit 80.
I love being DPS role in other mmo’s, and i’m just looking for an updated list top to bottom of the best damage and dps classes. I get that dps is different than overall damage which is fine then make two lists one of dps, one of overall damage for PvE Thanks

We don’t know full details about the coming changes, so we can’t say.

In light of the upcoming patch (September) which is to feature some substantial balance changes to many of the classes, a current best-to-worst dps list won’t be useful for very long and what the future might bring is pure speculation at this point.

That being said, it’s likely Warriors and Guardians will remain the default DPS class of choice due to their heavy-armor resilience and raw base damage that does not rely on conditions.

But really, it’s all a matter of play style and preference. This isn’t WoW where a raid team will slot a specific class/build for each role to min/max boss encounters. Some classes which are junk DPS in dungeons/general PVE perform very well in WvW or PvP. Find a class which meshes with your play style and learn to use every trick it’s got. Even an “average” class can perform very well if you use it properly.

It will still be elementalist as long as ice bow, lightning hammer, and lava font don’t get nerfed in some way. Ele DPS is about 14K max in optimal situations with staff eking a head of LH a bit. Ice bow 3 is roughly a 70 K burst depending on hitbox.

All of the other classes have DPS from 9.5-11K but thief and engi are a bit higher, and thief has second highest burst.
