Guild Wars 2

So I made a mesmer originally a few months ago when I was new to the game wanting a ranged character. Lo and behold I become familiar with mesmer and sword is godly! Now I know there’s a predisposition for melee weapons to do more damage than ranged weapons, BUT if I was going to choose a toon to range with, what pumps out the highest numbers?

Warrior still wins at the ranged role, although really, just punch all the mobs in the face.

Mesmer was actually my favorite ranged character. I leveled with greatsword-sword/pistol. The GS was adequate ranged damage and the swap to S/P felt very strong. I had a rifle warrior which was OK in the damage department, but not near the fun of the mesmer. If you like ranged because of the kiting mechanic, it’s hard to beat the mesmer.

I was going to say Ranger…. but I decided that joke wasn’t funny enough. But in all seriousness, Elementalists are easily the best ranged damage dealers. Anyone who says otherwise hasn’t faced me in PvP. In PvE, I crit for about 7k easily on level 80 mobs, and I can dish out 4 aoe’s and then by the time the 4th one is done, I can start spamming my aoe’s again. This is with the staff, by the way. Not to brag, but in CoF my guild members were absolutely amazed at the dps I could pull off on the final boss just by spamming my aoes under its feet. This is 7k+ each time I crit too, and with 66% crit chance, that is a ton of damage.

Rifle warrior berzerker and full signets can one shot an unsuspecting light armor character for 11k. That is how my friend makes a living in WvW.
