It’s impossible. If you really want the rewards from the Hall of Monuments, your only option is to go and play GW1 until you unlock them. Luckily you can do this whenever you like, so it could easily be a long term investment.

^ Pretty much just that.

If they ever offered HoM rewards even in the Gem Shop; it would be a massive slap in the face for us long time fans and players that put in the hours to get those rewards too.

GW1 can still be purchased though if you/anyone really wants those rewards.

It’s a “thank you” reward for previous customers who put a lot of time and effort into playing Guild Wars and have come back for Guild Wars 2. Why should they give the same reward to completely new customers who have never even touched the original Guild Wars?

I am a new customer, technically I did buy GW1 but back then I didn’t know much about MMOs and played it for like 3 days and uninstalled. But just because I have a GW disk sitting around somewhere collecting dust does not entitle me to the rewards of someone who played it for several years. And simply buying GW2 does not entitle you to the rewards either.

They’re only cosmetic rewards anyways, so you’re not missing out on too much.

There is a full section on this website and the original Guild Wars website that explains all the requirements and rewards needed for the Hall Of Monuments in Guild Wars 2.

Many of us original GW players spent the last year before GW2 launch gathering mini pets and other items so we could dedicate them for more points towards rewards, so instead of wishing you had them go get them.

People who ask for the HoM rewards without playing guild wars 1 are like people who ask for the platinum frequent flyer membership for flying 2 times a year. Just saying

To my knowledge there’s no actual types of damage in this game and those [fire] tags etc are there simply for the memories.

My Fire Dragon Sword skin when transmuted onto a sword causes fire damage to creatures in PvE.

They actually burn when I hit them with the sword, now whether it is actually doing fire damage I would have to get a screenshot showing them having a condition of burning to prove it I suppose.

But just about everything in this game is a cosmetic reward. In fact, the entire point of the game (after having fun) seems to be finding your favorite skins and working toward them. So, your point has no merit.

Anyway, the OP is free to buy GW1 and grind the rewards like everyone else. When GW1 is no longer available, then we’ll have a problem.

Yes, if they are taking burn damage there would be the “burning” condition shown… if they are just on fire but not do not have a burning condition then it would be a visual effect only.

Do you also think they should give away cultural armor instead of charging karma for it? Or make everyone start crafting at level 400 with every recipe unlocked? Because that’s essentially what you’re saying here – you want the reward without putting the work in.

The HoM items are a thank you/reward for people who bought GW1 and put many hours into playing it. Yes it might seem unfair that they’ve got something you don’t, but as many people have pointed out if you want them you can buy GW1 and earn the points, same way if you want cultural or dungeon reward armor you need to collect the karma/tokens.

I just killed an ettin using only the ranger’s default sword attack(s) and a fiery dragon sword and it does put a burning animation on the corpse but it doesn’t cause the burning condition.

^ Cultural armor costs gold, not karma, btw. T3 costs over 110 gold, to be more precise. (Hope you like farming Orr for nine hours for 5 gold a day.)

Considering the massive grief I went through to get 30 points for the HoM, on my own, after losing my account to someone who destroyed everything I had and stole all my gold (without rollback), I take a very abnormal stance for me and say, yes, it is mine. If you didn’t play GW1, too bad. Usually I say it’s unfair to lock people out, but in between how hard it was to do and still preferring GW1 in many ways over GW2 (man I miss the combat system over this crap), being able to impress new players (who will NEVER be able to get one) with my FDS at least makes up for some of it.

I stand corrected, the sword is cosmetic, no burning condition is applied, only an animation of fire as they die.

Burning is a condition that does exist though, many skills apply it.

GW1 is pretty cheap in most stores nowadays. Get yourself a copy (with Eye of the North of course) and go play for your rewards

You could get most of the points in a short space of time. If you did you main quests/missions. I’d say about 2 weeks if you have plenty of time.
