Q:

Why is it that only the people who bought the game from January 23rd – June 16th of 2015 get to avoid paying for the core game? Of all the people who should be able to avoid paying for the core game, it should be those that have been with the game since year one. To allow the greenest players, so far, a refund of Core GW2 but NOT the veterans is ridiculous. To further clarify, I’m all for getting new players to come to the game, this isn’t an attack on that strategy at all. I just find that a new character slot (worth about 10$) does not equal AT ALL the approximately 40-50$ Core game.

Please reconsider the offers you literally just made, because they’re kind of ridiculous. If anything, the veterans should be getting the refund for the Core game AND the extra character slot, regardless of which prepurchase they choose. If nothing else, give us the equivalent of that 50$ core in Gems with the Character Slot. That isn’t favoritism, it’s rewarding loyal players for their dedication to the game.

You aren’t paying for the core game.

I think you want to read it a bit more carefully. If you both buy the expansion as preorder, AND you bought the core game in the last 6 months, they’ll refund the price of the game (because it’s included in the expansion).

Apparently there was some confusion with the way the FAQ was written, and people thought they had to buy the main game in order to buy the expansion. They’ve adjusted the FAQ now, and this offer catches those who got caught between the announcement of HoT and the changes last week.

I think it’s within the last 6 months, from the time of HoT’s unveiling and not before. Sorta sucks a little bit cause anyone who bought the game between now and Jan 23rd most likely bought it at the sale price of $10 or $15 dollars and that’s what they’ll most likely be refunding but… at least they are offering the refunds. It’s better than nothing, right?

I use to be a Ritualist and a Paragon in my former life…

The reason they people are getting the refund is because they paid for the game due to wording in a FAQ that was easily misintpreted. In other words, some of them wouldn’t have bought the game when they did if they knew that the expansion would include the original.

I, on the other hand, 2.5 years ago, bought this game. And even if I was told back then that future expansions would include the original I’d have still bought the game. Because I’ve been having 2.5 years of enjoyment, except when I log into the forum. lol

The OP thinks that everyone should a game they’ve been playing for years for free. My only hope is that the OP never goes into business.

No, they are only doing the refund if you bought it in-game or through their site. So, they know exactly what you paid for it.

They are refunding people that bought the game as a preparation to the alredy announced expansion.

You are asking that people that bought the game to play it, independant of its future and have alredy had a huge period of time to dedicate to play and enjoy the product, get a refund that in most cases its bigger than the upcoming expansion.

Just ask for a free HoT if that make sense to you, because it makes more sense that what you are asking now ….
