HoT Ultimate players
If there won’t be a physical collector’s, I’ll buy ultimate.
Crickets ……..
Totally saving up for the ultimate.
Kind of hoping this thread doesn’t make it to page 2.

You know, pre-purchasing is usually cheaper than waiting. You might as well get on the train now, because /hype.
Hype! Begone naysayers!

Hype!
Let the tears flow.

It actually is… if you have to deal with fluctuating exchange rates.
Ultimate is the way to go. You get the Expansion, 4k Gems, and all the bonus goodies.
Just buy it. You know you want to.
One of us! One of us! One of us!
The hype train has crashed.
No survivors.
In truth, ANet have been very bad at getting people worked up. I don’t think there was a hype train to begin with. A hype unicycle maybe.
we love to give them the tools they need
to have big, important events!” Stop lying, ANet.
Didn’t buy because of hype, bought because GW2 is my favorite game. I’ve said it elsewhere, but I’ve been a part of this game since before its launch, starting with the closed beta you had to mail in a physical, signed NDA for. I’ve watched it grow so much over the years, and I mean, even next week, a huge update is coming to make it fresh and fun and improved yet again.
I have the Collector’s Edition tin and my gigantic Rytlock statue up on my shelf. I bought the biggest thing once, it made sense to me to do it again. I haven’t begun to regret the first purchase, and I don’t expect to regret the second.
Honestly, the whole concept of a “veteran” player is so bizarre to me. I got my Birthday Blaster for being around for 2 years. They don’t need to cut me a deal just to “make things fair” when they’re making it so my friends can buy the expansion and get the whole game all at once.
You guys remember that? Friends? The kind that take a lot of poking and prodding to convince that something is good? I’ve got a few lined up to buy HoT now that they know they’ll be getting the new and old content at the same time.
Long story short, I feel great about my purchase, and it’s got everything to do with GW2 being my favorite game. If you feel like you’ve been shafted because new players get the core game with the expansion, well…
…I’m just sorry you feel that way. I don’t feel like I’m owed more than what I got, and I’m glad more new players can join me.

Well said, the only thing i wish they did to appease all the scrooges is to add a char slot to all versions. I think that would have kept things much calmer around here.

Well one slot for the regular version would be nice but I wouldn’t complain about getting 2 for the ultimate; seeing as I have already paid.

Best post of the day.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
Hey let’s get an extra title to wear too. How about Ultimate Payer!

I think something simpler like “Bling Bling” would suit my asura more!

yes ultiMate is the only option for me =D
I hate the Ascended changes, I hate the Necro nerfs, BUT I will buy Ultimate too (once the site stops being soooo slooowww), because I’ve been here since release and the game has paid me back in fun (and sometimes annoyance), lol.
I solved the problem of then making necros garbage, I got an 80 warrior and 80 mesmer. I’m sure I will find something I like there. At VERY least I will be able to reset a fight when needed.
Happily bought Ultimate last night. Based on the hours of entertainment over the past 3 years, it is still one best entertainment values out there.

It depends. At the rate people are offering feedback on the pricing structure on the pre-orders, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Anet offer a “fourth tier” option with the physical edition which doesn’t include the base game.
But you do have a valid point in that the Ultimate pre-order is very much the best value per dollar.
I happily bought the Ultimate edition since there is no Collectors Edition.
My only complaint is no Boxed Collectors Edition. Got the Collectors Edition for base GW2 and the Rytlock on my desk needs a buddy!
I got the Ultimate also and i don’t regret it at all, no matter what other people say GW2 is my favorite game and i had super fun playing it the last years. I was going to purchase gems and a character slot anyway , i think it was a good deal.

I know, right?!
I’ll hold out a liiiittle bit, but I’m definitely going Ultimate, if there’s no sign of a collector’s box.
And why wouldn’t I? I’m going to, over time, pay the $50 in gems anyway, I’m going to buy the $10 character slot, so I’m already only paying $40 for the expansion. And I get a cyute mini Rytlock for doing so!
