I’ve noticed a lot of crying about the elite specializations being “op” or “too hard to obtain”… I’d like to point out that they aren’t called Elite Specializations for no reason. They are supposed to be a reward for dedication to a class. I don’t understand the attitude of wanting everything to be attainable by everyone.

I’ve even seen people in 2 person guilds complaining that they can’t unlock guild halls. My only response to that is: “Have you seen ANY of the dev streams about guild halls and unlocking them?” They aren’t supposed to be super easy things that any sized guild can do.

It could be that I just don’t understand it because I see people treating this MMO, like a singleplayer game. I think people forgot what MMO stands for. MMO stands for “Massively Multiplayer Online”. To me that signals that, yeah, if you want to get the most out of your time playing it you will need to actually find a group of folks. Besides, the game is way more fun if you actually take the time to form social connections and game together.

You’re kind of late to this discussion. ANET has already addressed the issue of hero points for elite specs- there’s a blog post about it, even.

The biggest complaint small guilds have is that previous functionality they had prior to the xpac is now not attainable, and the amount of effort they’d be willing to put in to obtain some of those features is now outmatched by number of members. Maybe you try MMO’ing the way you want to MMO, and let other people enjoy the game the way they want to, and not lecture them on what makes the game more or less fun, which is purely subjective.

“Be angry about legendary weapons, sure, but what about the recent drought of content?”
-Mike O’Brien
Because we can’t be angry about both?

To a lot of your statement I’d say the solution is fairly simple and a lot of them have already starting just helping each other to get to the things they want faster.

The last sentence or so comes off as abit impolite on your part, but thank you for your otherwise civil perspective on the matter.

“Elite” is just an adjective they slapped on the new spec. It doesn’t mean that there’s any special difficulty to getting it or anything long-term about it. And obviously, with the change, they don’t see it as something people should be getting only at the end of completing their jungle maps.

Mostly, folks get frustrated with maps where there’s no one doing the HPs. This can get annoying.

This MMO takes herd play to an extreme — more than any other modern MMO. Massively Multiplayer means there can be a lot of people in the same map — not that you have to play with them to get anything done. Way too many of this game’s rewards center around herd play. The changes since HoT seem to be taking that to an extreme.

I’m fine that there be herd play rewards, I’d just like to see more for small groups and singletons to do besides wander around Central Tyria like they’ve been doing for 3+ years.
