Additional: can some of my friends who I convinced to play, and bought copies because they were told they needed it for HoT get refunds, and buy this new version instead?

I can’t answer that for you, but there’s no point in not filing a support case for it.

Best case scenario, you get refunds. Worst case scenario, nothing happens.
