Mostly a question, I saw that this logging node exists.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Elder_Wood_Logging_Node

I thought cool, then thought thats a lotta golds. 229g when i looked. but elder wood is worth more than it has been in a while, so i thought, if i can get 3 logs out of that a day, how long before it actually becomes “worth” it. Elder wood is going for about 2s9c right now. thats about 6s27c a day. so it should take me about… 10 years?!? to break even?

wat am i missing here

Players also charge for others using their home instances with full nodes don’t forget. To be honest, it’s mostly case of rarity also driving the cost rather than cost efficiency.

Trying to find someone who has all the nodes OR getting all the nodes yourself.

Some people are nice and let others in, others are lazy and what to go to their home instance on their time.

I’m a Moose, a ginger moose even.

i mean i suppose if you could find a way to split the cost upfront or make people pay to gather, but still… thats about 3650 knocks before its made the money it “cost”. that’s a crazy amount. i understand it being xpensive and taking a while to be worth it, half a year, maybe 1 year would make sense

People do buy them so they likely are not overvalued.

To the extreme. It’s expensive because it’s rare.

It’s strictly a novelty item. I guess if you bought the node packs and various nodes like these you could always do a daily from your home instance.

Also, I guess if you had a guild or circle of friends collectively gathering from it every day, it could be worth it.

In the end, if you treat it like a decoration to your home instance, it is much better that way.

For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards,
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

It’s and expensive way to give yourself a very boring chore every day that will NEVER repay the cost of buying it.

Things like infinite logging and mining tools will never pay for themselves but they are a convenience, the nodes add an inconvenience at great cost.

It’s a convenience item. Add as many nodes as you can, plus the communing shard, etc., and the daily trip in is very much worth it. If you can take in multiple accounts, it’s just that much more valuable.

archon, suppose decoration is really it cause for an item that literally makes money, even if its not liquid, thats what it does, just very hard to see the value for a normal player lik me

deedrick, i dont’ need elder wood, just saw this node exists in game, thought it was neat and would be nice, then saw cost and wondered where the value really was

sandpit, dunno i’ve been using consortium on my char since it was 1st released, its prob paid for itself by now since its really the only char i play, but otherwise i def agree w/ u

deanbb, convenince is 1 thing, this is 3650 times of using before its got anything except put u in the red. if u have 10 accounts, thats still 1 year, of logging in w/ every single char, every single day, and knocking down the tree. i dunno if that convenient anymore or a chore as sandpit noted

thx for the thoughts. i just was curious how anyone could find value in it and if i was missing it. think i got my answer
