Home instance suggestion and personal opinion
My home instance is my guild. Literally. I dumped a heck load of gold into scribing so I could craft myself a bed, table and lamp so my quiet corner of the city would be a “home”.
I just wish Anet would allow players to loot unlocked nodes in guild halls instead of their home instances so I could “move” into my guild hall good and proper -.-

What does this have to do with my post?

I wish Home Instances were as customizable as Guild Halls.
I like Hoelbrak’s home instance over the others however I do wish we had an account wide homestead option. I think Cragstead is a good example of a Shiverpeaks homestead. It would need a slightly larger library structure to display titles, books, collections, armor and such. A homestead wouldn’t have to be as large as a guild hall. There could also be achievements for visiting other people’s homesteads.

I agree. I would like to be able to put my nodes where I want. Also to be able to decorate. But I haven’t done anything with Scribing since Anet caused my small guild to go bust. So I don’t know about getting into that expensive craft just to decorate my Home Instance.

What you’re asking for is something other than the Home Instance. Our Home serves primarily as a story instance, secondarily as a place for the nodes and other things we’ve collected.
I’d say it’s more along the line of the oft-requested player housing. Personally, if they added all that “gotta play/pay to maintain it” junk, I would skip it. If it was just a smaller space to go for your nodes, then sure.
In a non-subscription game that for the most part doesn’t penalize people for taking a break, I don’t see “keep your people fed or they starve” as fitting into Anet’s plan. I also don’t see “hirelings doing your gathering” as fitting Anet’s plan. May as well allow bots if they allow that.

I didn’t understand what you wrote, it’s not the english, I just don’t understand the point.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I see the forums as a place to hear feedback from players if they liked or disliked my opinion and for developers to decide if it’s good/bad/possible/impossible to implant in the game.
The point is you are asking to change the Home Instance into something it shouldn’t be, since then it would not serve the Personal Story. My suggestion is for you to suggest something other than changing the Home Instance — such as the too-often-suggested Player Housing idea (google it).
And I did express my opinion of not wanting to “work” in a game to maintain my “home” since what you suggested sounds like a lot of work (hire workers, feed them, etc).
And I don’t feel it is good for the game to have these NPCs creating income for you, aka gathering, rather than you doing the gathering yourself.
My opinions.

I think you’re correct about housing vs home instance. But I wish the Home Instance could be more of a “home”. My character supposedly lived there but other than the few things I learned in the Personal Story, I don’t know most of the people in there. If you go to your Home Instance every day to gather, you would know more about the NPCs that at least are near your nodes. In the Human instance, those orphans run by me every day but I know nothing about them.
Oh, and the NPC gathering idea is in WoW at least. I guess that’s going to make it a popular idea.
I thought the whole thing sounded like what WoW released last expansion. I can’t remember what it was called…Barricades or something.
It’s really not something that would work for the Home Instance; it’s some kind of Housing that would be ok, but for the NPCs gathering, and having to maintain it.
If and/or when we get Housing, I’m sure ArenaNet will put their own special spin on it.
Posters will agree or not, and are likely to explain why. So much more lively discussions than: I agree – I don’t agree, only. Devs rarely comment on suggestions.
Good luck.
To me it sounds like the OP want the home instances to be like one of those time wasting facebook games that you have to stay on top of. Personally if I wanted to do that to the inside of my home in a game I like to play 4-5 hours a day, I would then play the facebook games.
I go in, I harvest, I leave. That’s it.
Now since guild halls offer customization, it is easier to build a spot in there. My main guild actually encourages this concept. Once you reach a certain rank you have an option to find a open place in the guild ( Lost Precipice) and stake it out. Our website as a store front listing that shows different furniture you may request to place in your home and one of the officers will come and spend time decorating for you. If there is something specific you want, we just ask you provide whatever mats or gold, that one of the our scribes need to make it. As you increase your ranking in the guild you are given the choice to move to a bigger area and have an increase on stuff to place.
Not everyone takes us up on that but a few have and they spend a lot of time in there. One player even says he will go first person, hide the UI, and just look at a spot in the guild and leave it there while he does other stuff in RL, just because it looks relaxing.
if GW2 was to have housing it should be something along the likes of Wildstars model to make it interesting and engaging long term.

I never understood people like you who think they can speak on the developer’s behalf when they claim to know Anet’s plan, how many people are working on the game and how many resources they have.
First we they claimed the game will never be free to play yet look at it now.
You can say you don’t like the idea but lying right out here in the forums facts you can’t possibly know if you’re not working there is absurd.
Since you already made fun of yourself with your recent comments I’d suggest you calm down and perhaps stop commenting as this thread became more and more toxic by community’s responses.
FYI impersonating a developer is punishable therefor I reported your response.

There are roughly over 100k players playing black desert who would disagree with your point of view since there you are capable of recruiting workers to gather resources and building them homes while it’s an mmorpg.
If you thought in any way my suggestion had to do with customization you should re-read again my whole post because you misunderstood.
There is no mention of skin customization what so ever in my suggestion, all is gameplay through events and missions inside your home instance.
Seeing yourself getting kitten over “Customizing” a look in (and let me remind you) GUILD WARS 2 , where 90% of the content in the game is skin-grinding then you should perhaps look around you and see what game you are playing before commenting in the forums.
Just by how toxic the community can be amazes me.
Not liking an idea can be expressed by not commenting where in this case (something stupid) hence the term “Silent is golden” yet you expressed hate over an idea I didn’t even post.
Expect no further comments from me on this thread as it has gone to the hands of toxicity, lack comprehending what people read, and no feedback what so ever.
If the guild wars 2 forums are being run by little children who attack any idea (regardless of its content) that comes out of any player, then good luck in your developing progression.
WinchesterThank you very much for reading my suggestion and opinion, feel free to share yours in your comment section below
Sorry for sharing my opinion, I could’ve sworn you asked me to.
WinchesterI never understood people like you who think they can speak on the developer’s behalf when they claim to know Anet’s plan, how many people are working on the game and how many resources they have.
When did I state anything remotely relating to Anet’s plans, staffing, or resources? Have you really played this game? Have you played any of the personal story? I only stated that the purpose of the home instance is a place for that story to play out. I pointed out the current state of the game.
Then I offered a suggestion, which again I coulda sworn you asked me to, which was that your suggestion was more akin to an often-requested feature for player housing, which you could peruse endlessly with a simple google search.
WinchesterYou can say you don’t like the idea but lying right out here in the forums facts you can’t possibly know if you’re not working there is absurd.
I again stated my opinion that I would not enjoy having to tend to servants, home, etc, else they “deteriorate” if I step away from the game. I’ve played GW1/2 since the beginning in 2005 and this has never been part of their game. With their games being non-subscription, a player never feels forced to play, but free to take a break and not miss out on anything (insert asterisk here for “seasonal” stuff). Thus, my opinion that if such a feature was added, it wouldn’t be something I would do. There are many things in this game I don’t do, but I don’t deny others if they enjoy it.
If that quote of yours was trying to communicate something else, I apologize since it came out unclear.
Finally, have I ever been anything but calm? I don’t remember even using an exclamation mark! And you’ll have to quote some toxicity in the thread, since I’m not seeing any by anyone. Or was something deleted by a moderator?
