Hoods, Hats, Caps, with hair. PLEASE?
Iron’s Tailpipe Bandana comes with hair. I use that on my Main. =)
Every Hat should not remove the hair. But the clipping issue would be huge.
I’m not asking for a huge makeover, where they should make EVERY headgear compatible with EVERY hairstyle. Just that, maybe when you equip a headgear item, you get a set of 3 or 4 default hairstyles that have some bangs, or a small tuft of hair from within a hood. Just… something. Anything. Please?
That is the issue, make 3~4 standard different hairs for each hair style have a huge chance of clip with every headgear except for a really few ones, also there are many hairstyles that may be impossible to adjust to not clip.
Remove the hair isn’t the solution, I agree, but it is the best workaround, make several hair possibilities for each hairstyle is a lot of work for a result that will be very likely be bad.

I agree. While I understand certain technical limitations (there being so many kinds of hair, and races where hair is more complicated than with Norns/Humans) going from full head of hair to bald was really silly. I don’t buy/wear hats due to this. I’ll believe in Elder dragons, a race of plant people, being able to come back to life, etc, but I refuse to believe that putting on a hat in the expansive and magical world of Tyria cause people to go temporarily bald.
I believe it’s a technical limitation with armor and hair clipping.
They’ll need to have a version for every single hairstyle if they were to keep your hair.
But it’s not as if they had to keep your character’s current hair.
What you can do instead is a hair and a “no hair” version for those hats that would clip in an ugly way, detect if your character is bald, then make the “hair” version use your hair’s color.
Then you would need 20 versions instead the current 10, which isn’t as much as the ones that would be if there was a version for each hairstyle.
Kind of like this:

I remember when I used to play TERA they gave your character 2 hairstyles.
The one you picked at the character customization that your character used on all outfits.
Then another that was shorter and worked with the outfit so it did not clip. A “tied up” hairstyle that reduced the clipping while still keeping the hair and the chosen hair color of the character.
I think that would be better than the current limitations. Have us pick 1 normal hairstyle and then a “tied up” secondary hairstyle that we can toggle on and off from the general options window. Maybe a check box at the general options window that enables/disables the secondary “tied up” hairstyle?
I’m sure there are hairstyles in GW2 that could actually work with hoods, hats, and caps without having to delete the character’s hair.
I think it would work! ArenaNet can still sell unique hairstyles through their makeover kit while solving the bald “solution” to headgear clipping.
Can we extend that to beards? Like as in keeping the beard when one equips a helmet?
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

That is my main issue with my norn ranger, so few headgear allow me to keep my glorious beard.

A better work around would be to give the offending headgear two hairstyles (male and female) that is part of the headgear. Let the hair take the color of the character’s hair while giving it a temporary new look.
Example, the GW2 baseball cap could have short hair for males while having a pony tail out the back of the hat with some hair to be seen below the hat for females.
