Really mounts…when there is a waypoint everywhere……and why can’t the old players like me get the new expansion for free….i had to buy the first game and last expansion and I didn’t get a new character slot or anything these ppl just had to buy the HoT got a new character slot and cheaper game…not fair for us old players

For free? I was super hardcore about the pricing of HoT being stupidly high for such little content but even I recognize that free is ridiculous. GW1 saw us buying each expansion one at a time, there’s nothing wrong with it as long as it’s priced fairly.

My local pizzeria introduced a new Pizza last night and offered it cheaper than their previous pizzas. I have bought two of their pizzas previously and enjoyed them, they should give me the new pizza for free.

I expect this type of post every expansion. I for one think the mounts will be awesome just like the gliders were. If you just bought HoT and the main game and then got hit up for PoF I’d understand why your mad. However if you’ve you got a years worth of content for $30 then why are you complaining? Go play WoW and then come back here and complain about having to spend a whopping $30 once a year. Just remember, you don’t need to buy this expansion to enjoy this game.

Are you really crying about $30?? How is anet supposed to make money if they give out free expacs… go get a job or even ask mom and dad for your next allowance, it is 30 bucks.

I can’t believe anybody would be asking something like this. There isn’t a single major MMO that just gives away their expansions.

A free expansion? Is that how it’s supposed to work? We don’t actually have to PAY for services and things? I’m pretty sure there are beta WoW players still paying for expansions.

I was kinda on your side of the argument for HoT, because (and I still feel this way) it was not worth $50 when it released. Not even $40. And it was a little selfish for veteran players to whine about all the free core content new players got with it, but whatever, I can see where you’re coming from at least. But this “free” business? That’s pretty absurd. The pricing for this expansion is definitely fair and if you think you deserve to enjoy the painstaking work of Arenanet (or literally any company ever) then you’re going to have a hard time getting things in this world. May as well pack it up, man. Find a nice spot on the street somewhere and beg for stuff.

The Veteran Lash during HoT’s announcement was justified because of how they made GW2 F2P and if new players bought HoT alone they’d get the full game while the vets had to pay an extra 50$. In my opinion, a single character slot was not enough.

That being said, the above does not apply to this current expansion, unless they made HoT free if players buy PoF. Day-one vets like myself don’t really have any excuses this time around.

I definitely understand the argument as you put it. Like, if veterans who ALREADY bought core GW2 could get HoT for $30 i and the $50 tag would include HoT as well as the core, that’d be more fair. But the way they did it was pretty terrible.

I don’t want to seem like I’m just jealous that new players got stuff and I didn’t. I’m more than happy with Anet enticing new revenue with free stuff, but it just seems like new players got a fair deal (core game plus expansion for $50) while veterans got ripped off ($50 dollars for an expac that simply didn’t deliver enough to warrant that price)

But, back to the point of this thread, I think the pricing options this time are perfect. Even if PoF turns out to be pretty bad, I think $30 is a fair price to just kind of “get a feel for it” But I’m actually a little optmistic this time. HoT looked a little on the disappointing side to me even before release, but so far what I’ve seen from PoF is pretty nice.

You get GW2 + PoF for $30. To get HoT, you add $20. It looks like depending on fan reaction that you’ll get core + current EP for a price and then a la carte for the other expansions.

I’m a long time player. I have no problem with this. Therefore, you can’t say horrible service to long term players. It’s simply your opinion, which most people here seem to disagree with, many of who are also long term players.

Virtually every game I’ve ever bought gets cheaper three years later, but I still buy the next game in the expansion.

bet OP work for free too not want to get paid? Vet means nothing in this game its B2P not a Subscription game.

If you break down the price of the stuff you get gem cost wise of the ultimate… You pay like $10. So if you’re buying gems anyway, it’s the best way.

Wait till you have a real life job and see how you feel when someone tells you that they shouldn’t have to pay you for new things you do because they bought something from you a couple of years ago. You just might not agree with that statement.

great job another expansion that we pay full price for instead of saleing it as an upgrade no wonder this games going down hill i cant see me buying any more payed for the original then payed full price again for hot instead of hey you guys been here playing for these years here is an expansion price to upgrade you over full price

I’ve played gw1, and gw2 since launch but I’ve never gone as far as to ask anything for “free”. Come on now, get real. You should know better that nothing is ever for free.

Wasn’t looking for mounts and was hoping for a bit more innovation from ANet considering what they did with gliding, but….why should an expansion be free? That makes no sense, and I have invested quite a bit on account upgrades but still wouldn’t expect an expansion to be free, that’s so far out of the normal can’t even think where that would come from. Vet players like us already have advantages built into things from daily rewards and free additions from living stories. If this was a subscription game could see your point, but its not. So WTW?
