On my first level 80 I pretty much did just about anything that I could think of or that simply crossed my path. IE: porting to LA at level 10.

On my second level 80 I tried to limit certain actions to the context of where my character might be at within their personal leveling experience. IE: Not porting to LA but rather running there via the path set out for me on the levelish 30 personal story mission (the one that sends you to LA and is the first mention of LA to the character).

On my third and fourth characters I’m sticking to zones that I was meant to be in. IE: Human character won’t leave Queensdale before zone completion and the next level will be Kessex Hills.

With each character I’m adopting more and more house rules that I place on myself to heighten my personal enjoyment of the game. I have much more than given as examples above and I’ll have to jot them done but in the meantime I’m curious as to what House Rules other players might adhere to.

Didn’t have any rules trough my leveling process, though now I’ve set up in a pretty weird way:
- only my necromancer sylvari runs fractals. All the money that she earns she has to put in the bank. She has to earn rings for all of my characters.
- until my guardian is level 80, my thief has to earn her the full CoE gear, all the money that she earns she has to put in the bank.
- my level 35 guardian is the only one allowed to complete dailies. She needs all the exp she can get!
- banked money belongs to my main, first level 80, asura elementalist. She has to buy her T3 gear and later reach for at least 1 legendary weapon.
All other characters, except for my main asura have to be self sufficient. The game gives you enough cash to have good gear and to buy all of your books. If any of my characters will lack money on their way to 80 I’ll know that I did something horribly wrong.

I have a slightly similar method in so much that after every run the character that I’m playing at the time must deposit all funds less 10s into the bank. Sticking to these has pretty much allowed me to afford everything that I’ve wanted for each character.

Another house rule of mine is that whenever I use one of my 80s to downscale more than half their level in order to run with friends I’ll make a stop to pick up the cheapest white armor and weapons for the levels that we’ll be running. Seems to add to the challenge so that my friends don’t fell as if they’re ridding my coattails all the time.
