Housing teasers coming soon?
I want a house next to the Grape Farm in Lornar’s Pass. Can I haz?
Here ya go!… totally NOT a video for wildstar housing
Erm…I assumed housing would be relegated to the home instance area. Is this false?
I troll because I care
They said they’re gonna add more to the home instance at some point.
My understanding is that housing has nothing to do with the home instance and they will be developed separately but there has been very little info so who knows. I just feel that Tyria is large enough to support full blown non instanced housing so I can hope.
Yeap, any “housing” will most likely be in your home instance.
@steelwind
Wait, yer saying you think peeps should be able to build houses out in the pve zones? Oh my…methinks that might create a world of pain for the devs. What is the average server population anyway? And how many zones, 20? (Orr would be off limits most likely).
So take the average server population, divide by the number of legitimate zones, that would give you the number of player “houses” potentially in each zone. assuming an equal distribution as well as 100% participation

What I am saying is that there is generally two types of housing, instanced and non-instanced. One of the arguements for instanced housing is generally due to lack of space in the world but I do not feel that is the case with GW2, there is a ton of space and the world is huge. So I feel non-instanced housing could work here.
In all honestly any housing is better than no housing as long as I can customize and build my exterior and interior as well as housing should also bring utility not just fluff. Which means the ability to add vendors, storage, or portal.
I actually feel that the GW2 maps are so full of content (when compared to many other MMOs that seem to add random expanses just to make an area feel bigger – lazy IMO) that there is no room in them for non-instanced housing.
I would be fine with housing being a part of my racial home instance, as long as there is customisation and plenty of options for it then I will be content.
I hate EQ2 house instances (same as Rift). It feels isolated and departed from the game.
Bring on Ultima Online housing! Or check out upcoming ArcheAge’s housing. Now that’s something to drool over.
Housing gives belonging in the world, not just some action RPG. People would grind furniture and decorations for years and spend $$$ on decorations that other players can see.
PS: Last time I posted something about housing, my thread got locked, so good luck.
Housing would be nice but there are many other things that need fixing first. I’d rather see pvp, wvw, class balance etc. addressed first. You’ll notice in the last patch that the ranger class received no updates. It’s in desperate need of a little TLC. Take a look at ranger sub forums and you’ll see the note from Jon Peters about our status.

I was also thinking along the lines of Archeage as well whereas you can look at the map and find designate parts of each zone where you can build a house. This way it is controlled and landscapes aren’t cluttered everywhere with random houses.
Also housing is one of the biggest gold sinks that can exist so it can be extremely profitable for Anet.

I think Blizzard has stated this exact same thing for what 8 years now?

I hear you – and the idea of non instanced housing in Guild Wars 2 is laughable unless they stick a skyscraper in the middle of Lion’s Arch or something. Does anyone really imagine that Queensdale will be turned into an urban sprawl or that they are going to redesign the whole of Divinity’s Reach?

They could add different continents for player housing quite easily.
If I’m not mistaken, in the Norn home instance, there is a locked room at the very top of some stairs that looks – although it is very difficult to see – an awful lot like a studio apartment to me. Unless that opens up for story reasons I haven’t reached yet, I always figured that’s what they had in mind. Are the similar rooms in the other races’ home instances?
For everyone else, they get instanced housing. For the 1%, they get non-instanced housing. That’s something to grind for.
So if you have non-instanced housing, you have to pay a weekly upkeep for it, or else you’ll be evicted — helps to vacate the house if said player stopped playing for a long time.
Vanguard, if anyone has tried it; has some really nice player housing I thought. Open world, non-instanced and players actually had to craft it, with supplies and so on. I liked the system it had – not a big fan of the game though… but housing was pretty cool.
Would be a nice idea to have such a system in place for players here. Have to build it up; the more “wealth” (mats, money, etc) put into it, the nicer the house becomes. Massive gold and mat sink!
Housing rune of magic were good! 100 seats objects, servers, 6 choices of houses, of the objects bought in gold or in store! Crafts workshops! And there was a password with the name of the house, which has allowed all friends to come. But a lock box so they do not it!
Guildwars2 I love and I want to see more housing development!
If you do housing Anet, please, for the love of all that is sacred, do not make it like LOTRO’s.
The houses there look attractive enough, but object placement is by hooks* only which means that house interiors and exteriors all look extremely similar to one another. Please allow us customisation and the ability to let our creativity flow a bit.
- To anyone unfamiliar with the context of “hook,” what I mean is that LOTRO houses only allow for a very narrow range of item types to be placed in pre-designated areas of the dwelling….. very BORING.
Housing is something I can’t help to have high expectation here in pve.
It has very big potential in gw2 esp end-game.
These talks about housings make me feel anticipated.
